One thing we learned about all 32 NFL teams after training camp and preseason (DETROIT LIONS - What we learned: The Lions needed a better backup quarterback.  Cutting David Blough surprised some, but he had posted a 58.9 PFF grade across 93 dropbacks while facing largely backups. His 4.6 yards per attempt was a problematic level of play the team felt needed to be addressed, and so they added Nate Sudfeld, whose 70.0 PFF grade reflects a far better preseason for the 49ers. Whether it's Blough, Sudfeld or even Jared Goff, quarterback remains a weakness for the Lions, but they have improved at the backup spot with that move.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-one-thing-we-learned-32-nfl-teams-training-camp-preseason-2022

2022 NFL triplets rankings: Bengals, Eagles climb; Packers, Chiefs drop (28.  Detroit Lions - Score: 43 pts. (Quarterback: Jared Goff -- Rank: T-23 (One game: 22 | 2022 prod.: 26), Running back: D'Andre Swift -- Rank: 20, Pass catcher: Amon-Ra St. Brown -- Rank: 30):  Don't take my ranking of St. Brown as criticism; I'm a big believer in his potential. I'm curious to see how the Lions work in Jameson Williams when he's ready to go, and if he'll overtake St. Brown as the top pass-catcher in Detroit. Until then, it's St. Brown's role, and we know he has the work ethic for it. Goff has already been subjected to plenty of talk about when he will be replaced, but he's been pretty good at tuning it out. We'll see if he can be better in 2022 and silence some of that noise. And as Duce Staley said on Hard Knocks, Swift has the potential to be an elite back. He just needs to go earn it, and hopefully for him, he won't be the focus of opposing defenses every week like in past years.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/2022-nfl-triplets-rankings-bengals-eagles-climb-packers-chiefs-drop

NFL practice squads: 20 most interesting additions after waivers process (A.J. Parker, CB, Detroit Lions:  Parker signed with the Lions as a UDFA last May and wound up starting seven games and playing 65% of the team’s defensive snaps. This season, it looks like Detroit will go with Mike Hughes as their primary slot corner, with seventh-round rookie Chase Lucas backing him up. That’s not much competition for Parker, who could work his way back to the active roster in due time.):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-practice-squads-20-most-interesting-additions-after-waivers-process/

One draft prospect for each NFL team to monitor (Detroit Lions: Will Levis, QB, Kentucky - It is easy to see Detroit's strategy of building through the trenches. The offensive line is among the best in the league whereas the defensive line has a lot of unproven talent led by Aidan Hutchinson. The Lions have a good collection of skill talent as well. There are holes on the roster but general manager Brad Holmes could restart the salary cap clock with a rookie quarterback. Parting ways with Jared Goff would save over $20 million beginning next season.  Levis is an unfinished product but NFL talent evaluators will be excited about his potential. He has great size, great arm strength and plus mobility. If Holmes liked Goff coming out of California, then there are reasons to believe he would be drawn to Levis as well. The Kentucky senior played in a Rams-like offense last season under now Rams offensive coordinator Liam Coen. Everything Holmes needs to know about Levis is just a phone call away.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2023-nfl-draft-one-prospect-for-each-nfl-team-to-monitor-during-the-college-football-season/
