Biglead (LIONS (+7) over VIKINGS:  All right, so we were wrong about Kirk Cousins and the Vikings. Who hasn't written that exact sentence several times over the last few years, though? The Lions, meanwhile, looked like a complete team in their win over Washington. Detroit might sneakily be the second-best team in the NFC North, and they'll stake a claim for that title in Minnesota this Sunday. SN Bender (Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings (-7) - The Lions are an early-season feel-good team with the additions made with second-year coach Dan Campbell. They've scored 35.5 points per game, and Jared Goff is off to a great start with playmakers DeAndre Swift and Amon-Ra St. Brown. These teams split last year's meetings, and each game was decided by two points. CBS Prisco (Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings (-6):  The Vikings were awful in losing to the Eagles on Monday night. The plan was bad on both sides of the ball. But they will get back on track here. The Lions have played well so far this season, especially on offense, but this is their first road game. The Minnesota offense will play well since it's not a Monday night game, which happen to cripple Kirk Cousins. CBS Sullivan (Lions at Vikings:  The Vikings are coming off a stinker on Monday night where Kirk Cousins looked like "Prime-time Kirk Cousins" and threw three picks while the team managed just seven points against Philadelphia. While the 1 p.m. ET kickoff is a much more palatable window for Cousins, the Lions have played teams close under Dan Campbell. Since he arrived last season, Detroit has covered 68.4% of their games (13-6 ATS), which is the second-best percentage in the entire NFL over that stretch. That also includes a 2-0 ATS record to begin this season. Against divisional opponents, the Lions are 4-2 ATS over that same stretch. Minnesota may be the better team and are set up nicely for a bounce-back at home, but Detroit will keep this close and could end up being a game determined by a field goal. Football Meteorology For 2022 NFL Week 3 (Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings (-6): This one should be fun. Detroit is looking to score 35 or more points for the fourth game in a row. Amon-Ra St. Brown has become a massive problem for defenses, and the Lions run game is strong enough to make defenses pay for committing too many resources to shutting down the Sun God.  But the Vikings offense is potent in its own right. Justin Jefferson might be the best WR in the league right now, a complete package of a weapon. Kirk Cousins has done a good job of getting the ball out quickly and accurately, nullifying the creative Detroit pass rush. If Minnesota can avoid turning the ball over, they should be able to sneak away with the home win. SN Alford (Lions vs. Vikings prediction - This NFC North matchup might end up being one of the better games during the early window in Week 3. The Lions are not scared and have a feisty defense that will get after the quarterback. Goff has done a good job of not turning over the ball, which will loom large in this game. I expect both running games to have a couple of huge runs. Also, after being shut down by the Eagles, Jefferson should break out of his mini-slump and gets a touchdown.
