Stock up, stock down after the 2022 NFL preseason (Up - CB JEFFREY OKUDAH, DETROIT LIONS (PFF Preseason Grade: 81.6 (5th)): The former No. 3 overall pick has had a torrid start to his NFL career and needed a strong preseason just to win back a starting spot. He did exactly that, and across three games had one of the better PFF grades in the league at cornerback. Okudah gave up three catches for 23 yards with an individual pass breakup. He also recorded three defensive stops — one in each preseason game. After one of the worst rookie seasons from a cornerback in recent memory, Okudah tore his Achilles in Week 1 last year. On 54 snaps in three preseason games this year, though, Okudah looked like the guy the Lions thought they were getting. He allowed only one first down on four targets and broke up a pass while guarding heralded Steelers rookie George Pickens. Okudah was physical at the line and in run support, as he made six tackles without a miss. All-NFC North Team: Preseason edition (St. Brown, Hockenson, Sewell, Ragnow, Jackson, Fox made it from the Lions. St. Brown, meanwhile, really came on down the stretch of his rookie season. You need a lot of talent to earn double-digit targets in six consecutive games. Hockenson almost gets the tight end spot by default here, as none of the other tight ends in this division have yet shown his floor or ceiling to date.   Sewell looked pretty good in his transition to the right side of the offensive line last year, and given his pedigree we think it's likely that he takes a step forward in Year 2.  Jackson has been a great find for the Lions as a third-round pick, starting 32 of 33 possible games and emerging as a Pro Bowler last year. Five NFL Rookies To Watch In 2022 (Aidan Hutchinson, DE, Detroit Lions:  The No. 2 overall pick has quickly proven to be everything his hometown Lions wanted Hutchinson to be. Hutchinson ascended to first-team reps immediately and keeps building upon everything he showed at Michigan.  The high-floor categorization Hutchinson almost universally earned from draftniks is obvious already. Hutchinson is going to be a good one right away. He has the strength, the length, the football IQ and the technical prowess to step right in and make an impact in Detroit’s retooled 4-2-5 defense. Hutchinson typically plays the strongside DE spot, but the Lions move him inside judiciously and he’s proven way too much to handle for blockers when he attacks the “B” gap. We’re starting to see more personality from Hutchinson, both in preseason games and on Hard Knocks with the Lions being this year’s featured team. Detroit hasn’t had a true defensive catalyst since Ndamukong Suh’s All-Pro heyday, someone who offenses have to worry about on every snap.
