NFL Week 5 Analytical Quarterback Rankings: Tua Tagovailoa remains on top, Matthew Stafford climbs to No. 2 (QUICK PASSES: JARED GOFF, DETROIT LIONS:  Goff attempted 28 passes against Green Bay in Week 4, 16 of them in under 2.5 seconds. LT Taylor Decker, LG Jonah Jackson, C Frank Ragnow, RG Graham Glasgow, RT Penei Sewell.  Graham Glasgow has been playing in place of the injured Halapoulivaati Vaitai, but he could be a starter for a lot of teams. He is the eighth-highest-graded guard in the NFL through Week 4. NFL Rookies: Top 15 highest-graded players after Week 4 (9. CB BRIAN BRANCH, DETROIT LIONS: 79.6 - The former Alabama standout makes his debut on this list after a fantastic outing in Week 4. After a slow start to the year, Branch has played incredibly well over his last two games, earning 82.0-plus overall grades in each. Over that stretch, Branch has shown out in coverage and run defense, forcing three incompletions and producing five run stops. His 89.5 defensive grade over the last two weeks ranks in the top 25 among all defenders.  11. TE SAM LAPORTA, DETROIT LIONS: 78.8 - Through September, LaPorta has produced as one of the best tight ends in the league. Detroit Lions  (2023 stats: 3 games | 69 att | 262 rush yds | 3.8 ypc | 5 rush TDs | 3 rec | 27 rec yds | 0 rec TDs | 1 fumble lost):  The Lions are so much better offensively when operating with two healthy running backs to swap in and out. In the Week 4 prime-time win at Lambeau Field, Montgomery returned after missing a game with a thigh injury, setting the tone for the Lions with a career-high 32 carries. NFL Confidence Meter: 10 teams that have a real shot at Super Bowl 58, including the Bills (Detroit Lions - The Lions are for real. Even if quarterback Jared Goff has limitations to his game, it’s very easy to see Detroit winning the NFC North this year and pushing for a Super Bowl berth. It’s a remarkable moment for a team that has yearned for success like this for decades. It’s just so, so cool to see.  However, this Lions team is beatable. Getting Goff rattled in the pocket and making him turn the ball over will be the formula, and there are some really good pass rushes in the NFC. It’s easy to see the 49ers defense putting Goff in a blender, so the Lions will have to keep the offensive line healthy and find ways to keep the pocket clean so Goff doesn’t make mistakes.  This Lions defense is tough, and it’s going to be a problem for any offense in January. As long as Detroit can keep the momentum going throughout the regular season and avoid any big injuries, they looks like contenders. 1 glaring regret each for all 32 NFL teams have after 4 weeks of the 2023 season (11.  Detroit Lions: That Jack Campbell isn't quite ready to supplant Alex Anzalone - Detroit was proactive to fill a need in the middle of its defense, drafting reigning Butkus Award winner Campbell in the first round back in April. While Campbell has the talent and vision to be a star, his transition to Sundays has been slower than hoped — he’s played just 46 percent of the defensive snaps as Alex Anzalone has continued to play a starring role at off-ball linebacker.  The Lions would prefer he didn’t. He struggles against pressure and doesn’t really have the facilities to create outside of the offensive structure.  But Goff can be an assassin over the middle. And between Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta, there are more than enough weapons to attack that area of the field.
