They will regroup vs. the run and be ready to chase Justin Herbert as L.A. gets too one-dimensional with limited weapons under former Lions QB Kellen Moore. Detroit is 3-1 S/U on the road this season and has flexed a large following in those games. Jared Goff’s passer rating drops to 88.0 on the road this season, so a shootout with Justin Herbert is possible. The Chargers are coming off a short week, and their home losses to the Dolphins and Cowboys were by a combined total of five points. That's quite the rest advantage for Detroit. While L.A. was able to get the win last week, the offense is still a bit clunky at times and could face similar problems against the Lions unit that is extremely stout on third down. On the critical down, Dan Campbell's team is allowing opposing clubs to move the chains just 32.6% of the time (second-best in the NFL). The Lions are also pressuring quarterbacks at the fourth-best rate in the league so far this season and should be able to give Justin Herbert fits. Meanwhile, Jared Goff shouldn't have too tough of sledding against a Chargers defense that is ranked the worst in the league, giving up 286 yards per game through the air. That said, they are 1-2 against teams with winning records and beat the Kansas City Chiefs by one point. Kansas City was without Chris Jones and Travis Kelce in that matchup. The Lions’ offense has been good but not quite great this season. Detroit’s defense has been the better unit to this point.  Few teams have a premium quarterback like Justin Herbert with a high-end pass rush like the Los Angeles Chargers. Los Angeles also has a high-quality offensive line with difference makers in Keenan Allen and Austin Ekeler. The Chargers’ offense has consistently underachieved since losing Mike Williams in Week 3. Defensively, every position group has shredded the Chargers through the air. CBS Dajani (Detroit Lions (-3) at Los Angeles Chargers:  I know Justin Herbert's injury is on his non-throwing hand, but I feel as though he hasn't looked like himself over the past few weeks. He threw for a career-low 136 yards vs. the New York Jets Monday night, and is averaging a career-low 253.3 passing yards per game this season. Defensively, the Chargers allow the third-most yards per game (375.8), and statistically have the worst pass defense in the league (286.0 yards allowed per game).  I wish I got this line when it was DET -1.5, but I will still take it at DET -3. I have questions about the Lions as legitimate contenders, but Jahmyr Gibbs finally had his breakout game last time out, David Montgomery appears ready to return to the lineup, Sam LaPorta is the best rookie tight end we've seen in some time and Aidan Hutchinson is having quite a season on the defensive side.  Detroit is coming off its bye while L.A. is on a short week. The Lions are 6-2 against the spread this season, which is tied for the best ATS mark.
