NFL midseason breakdown: What we know about all 32 teams, questions for the second half (Detroit Lions (6-2) - FPI rank: 11, Chances to make the playoffs: 94.9%, Chances to win their division: 77.5%. What we know: At 6-2, the Lions are off to their best start over an eight-game stretch since 2014 and have positioned themselves to win their first divisional title since 1993. After closing out the 2022 regular season with eight wins in their final 10 games, coach Dan Campbell's team has picked up where it left off with veteran quarterback Jared Goff running the show in an offense designed around his strengths. What we don't know yet: Can the Lions challenge top opponents? Campbell acknowledged during Monday's practice the Lions "have not played our best football collectively." Five of Detroit's six victories have come against teams with losing records that are 15-27 collectively, so there are still questions surrounding just how legitimate the Lions are. The Lions haven't reached the playoffs since 2016 and are 1-2 this season against likely playoff teams with their lone win coming in the opener against the Chiefs. Stat that defined the first half: The Lions have won three consecutive home games by 12 or more points for the first time since 1997. Ford Field has been a real advantage for them. Goff has thrown a touchdown pass in 17 straight home games, a franchise record. The Lions also recorded their first victory on "Monday Night Football" since 2014 in a Week 8 home win over the Raiders. According to Vivid Seats, the average cost of a ticket to that game was $252 on the resale market, making it the hottest Lions ticket in the past 15 years. -- Eric Woodyard): https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38678708/nfl-2023-midseason-report-afc-nfc-questions-critical-stats

We haven't even played Week 10 yet, and the computer is already crowning the Lions (6-2) as the champions of the NFC North for 2023. According to SportsLine, the Lions have an 85.1% chance of winning the division. Even better: The Lions have a 96.5% chance of making the playoffs, which means the computer essentially views them as a lock to make the postseason for the first time since 2016. NFL QB Power Rankings Week 10 2023: Dak Prescott, Jalen Hurts, and C.J. Stroud All Rise After Stellar Outings (8. CBS NFL team grades at halfway point: Eagles ace midterm (Detroit Lions - Record: 6-2. Grade: A-. The Lions were hyped up as a team on the rise in the NFC, and so far they have lived up to it. Beating the Chiefs in Week 1 was a statement victory as Detroit cruised to a 5-1 start before getting blown out by Baltimore. The Lions are second in the league in yards per game and continue to run the ball well despite the recurring injuries to David Montgomery Sam LaPorta appears to be the next star at tight end and Jahmyr Gibbs is coming into his own at running back, more offensive pieces and already good unit can use down the stretch. Grading all the 2023 1st-round picks after Week 9 (12. Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Lions: Gibbs has split the Lions’ RB duties with David Montgomery, though it’s been rare when both are healthy. In the three games Montgomery has been out, Gibbs leads the league in yards from scrimmage. Pass protection woes drop Gibbs a half-grade. Grade: A-minus. 18. Jack Campbell, LB, Lions: Campbell has played all the LB roles for the Lions, from the Mike to their edition of the Sam, which is exclusively a pass rusher. He’s been very good at tackling and hustle plays but inconsistent (as you’d expect from a rookie) in coverage.
