Week 12 Power Rankings

CBS (2. Lions:  They had to rally to beat a so-so Bears team at home, which isn't a good sign. But the fact they did it shows they are a truly a good team.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-12-power-rankings-browns-good-enough-to-make-deep-run-with-rookie-qb-plus-red-hot-broncos-surging/

Fox sports (2. Detroit Lions (7-3) +2. I was hesitant to jump the Lions over a Baltimore team that thumped them, but that miracle rally was enough to vault Detroit into second place. The game is supposed to be over when you're down by 12 with 4:15 to play, but the toughness and confidence of this Lions team looked special in a big moment. If this season goes somewhere memorable, that game will be looked back on as a launching pad.):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/2023-nfl-power-rankings

PFN Miller (3. Detroit Lions (3):  Jared Goff turned into a pumpkin against the Bears on Sunday, but the Detroit Lions battled for four quarters to overcome a multi-score deficit in the final 15 minutes to beat their division rivals.  Aidan Hutchinson sealed the game with a beautiful rush that resulted in a strip-sack of Justin Fields, who played relatively well in his first action back from his injury. Considering the issues Detroit had defending the Lamar Jackson-led Ravens, a big day from Fields shouldn’t have been surprising.):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/week-12-nfl-power-rankings-dalton-miller-2023/

Fox sports Brooks (3. Detroit Lions - Record: 8-2; Last Week: 3.  Dan Campbell's gritty squad showed incredible resilience, overcoming a slow start to knock off the Bears. Jared Goff, in particular, bounced back from three interceptions to make a series of spectacular throws during a 17-point fourth-quarter rally that flipped the game's momentum. With the NFC North leaders stacking wins with or without playing their A-game, the Lions are quietly rounding into form as a title contender.): https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/nfl-top-10-rankings-lions-49ers-dolphins-hold-steady-texans-enter-the-fray

Yahoo (3. Detroit Lions (8-2, LW: 3):  The Lions were incredibly sloppy on Sunday and that's concerning. Jared Goff threw three interceptions, his most this season (he had thrown just five in Detroit's first nine games). It happens. The takeaway is that Detroit won anyway. You'd like to play great every week, but that's not realistic and there's something to be said about winning with your C- or D+ game.):  https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-power-rankings-lets-ride-to-the-playoffs-broncos-resurgence-might-be-legit-123004557.html

SN (3. Detroit Lions 8-2 (3):  The Lions didn't look good with Jared Goff turnovers for most of the game vs. Chicago, also having more defensive breakdowns. But credit them for digging deep late and making the plays needed to win, a sign of a strong, complete playoff team.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-power-rankings-49ers-cowboys-broncos-seahawks-steelers/da4d18d1d1d67b3800f4f86e

The Athletic (Rank: 3.  “The Lions scored 17 points in the final 2:59 Sunday, and it’s that offense that makes them so dangerous. They are second in the league in yards per game (399.6) and fifth in scoring (27.2) but only 17th in red-zone touchdown efficiency (52.9 percent) so there’s still room for growth. The Lions, who are 16-4 in their last 20, haven’t started a season this well since 1962.”):  https://www.mlive.com/lions/2023/11/nfl-week-12-power-rankings-lions-claim-second-best-spot-in-the-league.html

NFL.com (3.  Detroit Lions:  Jared Goff threw three picks Sunday against the Bears, though two of them were a little fluky, as one was tipped and another spawned from contact that might have been defensive pass interference. Still, Goff also had two other passes that easily could have been picked, including one that might have been a long pick-six by Chicago CB Jaylon Johnson. It felt like the Bears threw way more pressure at the Lions than expected, which threw off the rhythm of the passing game. But unlike some others, I saw this win as a positive for Detroit. Almost everything went against the Lions in this game. They were minus-three in turnovers and trailed by 12 points with less than four minutes left ... yet they found a way to win. This should be the type of game that makes us respect Detroit more.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-power-rankings-week-12-2023-nfl-season

Athlonsports (3. Detroit Lions (8-2) Lions QB Jared Goff - Last week: No. 4.  Six words or less: This team finds ways to win):  https://athlonsports.com/nfl/power-rankings-week-12-eagles-broncos-cowboys

Touchdown wire (4. Detroit Lions - Last Week: 3.  The Detroit Lions are 8-2 for the first time since the Lincoln administration (don’t dig too far into that, I’m pretty certain that’s correct). They do come down a spot after an ugly performance against an inferior Bears team. However, they are still as dangerous as any team in the NFC.):  https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/lists/nfl-power-rankings-week-12-eagles-chiefs-ravens/

ESPN (4. Detroit Lions (8-2) - Week 11 ranking: 4.  Preseason hot seat: QB Jared Goff.  Current temperature of hot seat: Cold.  The Lions are off to their best start since 1962, and sitting comfortably atop the NFC North standings in position to win their first division title since 1993. Goff has been a major factor this season, as he has continued to revitalize his career under coach Dan Campbell and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. Goff has 2,743 passing yards through 10 games this season as well as 16 touchdowns to just eight interceptions. The next thing he has to prove is whether he can lead the team in the playoffs. -- Eric Woodyard):  https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/NFLpowerranking112123/nfl-week-12-power-rankings-poll-2023-plus-hot-seats-every-team

SI (4. Detroit Lions (8–2) - Last week: win vs. Chicago, 31–26.  Next week: vs. Green Bay.  An inspiring comeback for the Lions, who continue to remain themselves during moments of adversity, while also riding the tailwind of a distinct coaching edge. At the end of Sunday’s game against the Bears, when needing a game-winning touchdown, Detroit didn’t have to do, really, anything different. Jared Goff was the most comfortable we’ve seen him all afternoon despite throwing three picks.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/2023/11/21/power-rankings-eagles-on-top-after-beating-chiefs

FTW (5.  Detroit Lions - Last week: 3.  The Lions played footsie with the woeful Bears and on a different Sunday, would’ve probably fallen short. But Dan Campbell’s bunch is too well-coached for that. In front of a raucous Detroit crowd, the Lions erased a 12-point deficit in just about three minutes for an unthinkable win. Concerns will predictably spark about Jared Goff’s viability for a contender, but that’s a conversation for another day. These Lions clearly have a never-say-die championship mettle. — RZ):  https://ftw.usatoday.com/lists/nfl-power-rankings-week-12-dolphins-eagles-bills

USA Today (6. Lions (6): A team that has zero NFC North crowns to its credit has won seven consecutive divisional games for the first time since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. They can run that streak to eight on Thanksgiving by beating Green Bay.):  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/columnist/nate-davis/2023/11/21/nfl-power-rankings-eagles-chiefs-week-12/71662920007/

Fox sports Herd (6. Detroit Lions (Last week: 6) - Overall record: 8-2 | Last week: Won 31-26 vs. Bears.  Playoff odds — Yes: -10000, No: +2500.  Cowherd's thoughts: "Just a relentless team. They've won 16 of their last 20 games. They're gonna own their division. Their offensive line — dominating. Their defense? Man, have they made adjustments. This defense was nonsense last year."):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/herd-hierarchy-week-12-eagles-take-over-no-1-spot

Walter football (7. Detroit Lions (8-2) – Previously: 7.  The Lions are 8-2 or better through 10 games for the first time since before the CIA assassinated John F. Kennedy. Beating the Bears on its own isn’t very impressive, but the Lions fought hard to overcome a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter, which showed a lot of character.):  https://walterfootball.com/nflpowerrankings.php
