PFF Grades and Data: Key insights for every NFL Week 7 game (DETROIT LIONS VS. MINNESOTA VIKINGS - The loss of Aidan Hutchinson is immeasurable loss for the Lions' defensive front, but their interior pass rush has been a bright spot and will be even more crucial going forward.  Alim McNeill and Levi Onwuzurike are one of four interior defensive line duos to each record at least 15 pressures this year, and the Lions' interior defensive line as a whole has combined for 46 total pressures, tying for second among all interior defensive line groups.  The weak spot in pass protection on an otherwise solid Vikings offensive line has been guard Ed Ingram. Among 68 guards, his 29.4 pass block grade ranks third-lowest, and his 17 total pressures allowed tie for the fourth-most.  Over his last two games, Jared Goff has excelled against the blitz, completing 17 of 18 passes for 380 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. This brings his season totals to a league-leading 701 passing yards and 12.1 yards per attempt against the blitz.  Next up for Goff is Brian Flores and the league's most blitz-happy defense, which boasts a 52% blitz rate. The Vikings' blitzes have resulted in six offensive turnovers — the most in the NFL — and a 64.5 passer rating for opposing quarterbacks, the second-lowest in the league.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-pff-grades-data-key-insights-for-every-nfl-week-7-game

NFL Week 7 Preview: Schedule, storylines and matchups to watch (Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings (-1.5) - Storyline of the game: Battle atop the NFC North.  Two of the NFC’s strongest teams in 2024 are set to square off in this divisional battle between the North-leading Vikings and the second-place Lions.  The Lions are maybe the hottest team in the NFL coming into Week 7 after putting up over 40 points in each of their last two matchups, including their phenomenal 47-9 victory over the Cowboys in Dallas last week. This team is focused and clicking on all cylinders.  Coming off their Week 6 bye, this Vikings team is rested entering this high-stakes brawl. Minnesota currently stands as just one of two remaining undefeated teams in the NFL along with Kansas City but holds the league's only undefeated record against the spread with a perfect 5-0 showing.  Matchups to watch: Vikings LT Christian Darrisaw vs. Lions Edge Josh Paschal - Last Week, this Lions defense suffered a deep wound with the loss of elite edge Aidan Hutchinson for the remainder of the season. His absence leaves Detroit without the most disruptive defender in the NFL and a hole in its pass rush. This defense needs names like Paschal — the former second-rounder who hasn’t much lived up to his lofty draft position, totaling just three sacks across three seasons — to step up big, or this unit could be in trouble.   The Vikings’ left tackle has been one of the best blockers on the edge for years, and 2024 is no different. The fourth-year tackle owns a 75.4 grade in pass pro this year after a pair of solid weeks in which he surrendered just two total pressures.  Additional news:   Lions Edge Aidan Hutchinson (fractured tibia/fibula) expected to miss remainder of season.  Minnesota has acquired RB Cam Akers from the Texans for a late-round pick swap.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-week-7-preview-schedule-storylines-and-matchups-to-watch

NFL QB Index, Week 7: Jordan Love, Caleb Williams make big leaps; Dak Prescott slides (7.  Jared Goff (2024 stats: 5 games | 71.1 pct | 1,330 pass yds | 8.9 ypa | 8 pass TD | 4 INT | 21 rush yds | 0 rush TD | 0 fumbles):  When you protect well and run the ball effectively, there's little a defense can do to stop Goff and the Lions. Week 6 provided a perfect example. Given all day to throw, Goff carved up Dallas' defense, picking apart the Cowboys' coverages for massive gains. The addition of Tim Patrick has been sneaky good (he caught three passes for 68 yards) and we know what Amon-Ra St. Brown brings to the table. But I was most impressed by the way Goff didn't ice out Jameson Williams after the receiver dropped a pass that would've gone for a huge gain. Instead, Goff went right back to Williams on the next play for a gain of 15, demonstrating confidence and trust in his young teammate. He later found Williams for a beautiful pass on a fade in which Williams outran Trevon Diggs to the end zone. And because they're the Lions, they had time for fun, too, dialing up a double reverse flea flicker that naturally went for a 52-yard touchdown. When the circumstances are right, these Lions are a well-oiled machine, and Goff excels behind the wheel.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-qb-index-week-7-jordan-love-caleb-williams-make-big-leaps-dak-prescott-slides

2024 NFL QB Rankings: Lamar Jackson Hits Top Spot While Jalen Hurts Climbs (3. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions - Grade: B (68.4).  Like a fine wine, Jared Goff is improving with age.  Goff turned his career arc around in 2022 and has continued to build on that success in 2023 and 2024. He’s improved his passing under pressure for the fourth straight year while maintaining his ability to make plays from a clean pocket at a high level.  Goff’s biggest stride this year has been his nYPA, which ranks fourth in the league at 8.4. The next highest in his career since 2019 was 7.3 in 2022.  The Detroit Lions QB has been marshaling a very good offense and is reaping the rewards. Goff has taken some little steps back in other areas of his game, but the improvements have generally outweighed the drop-off.):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-qb-rankings-2024/

NFL Quarterback Rankings: Jayden Daniels, Brock Purdy Surge to Top Tier (11. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
LR: 12.  After a slow start to the season, Goff has really picked it up. The Lions are 4–1 and Goff has been excellent, sitting sixth in passing yards per game while averaging a league-high 8.9 yards per attempt. With Jameson Williams, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta, Detroit has one of the NFL’s scariest passing attacks.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/quarterback-rankings-jayden-daniels-brock-purdy-joe-burrow
