Week 8 Predictions

PFN Rolfe (Tennessee Titans at Detroit Lions (-11.5):  There is an absolute chasm between the Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions. The Lions rank first in our PR+ and second in nEPA/G. They have a top-10 offense and a top-10 defense, with an above-average special teams. They are better than the Titans in all three aspects of the game after seven weeks. Tennessee ranks 24th in our PR+ and nEPA/G, with neither the offense nor defense ranking in the top 10. The problem is that the sportsbooks know this as well and have set the line accordingly.  The Lions have two games coming up against the Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans, which means they could easily overlook this game. I still expect Detroit to win, but covering more than 10 points is tough to project. The best way to bet the Lions here is to tease the line down to around -6 and pair it with another play. SN Iyer (Titans at Lions (-11.5, 46 o/u) at Browns:  The Lions have a huge number in their favor at home, as the Titans are stuck offensively and incapable of matching them on the scoreboard regardless of who they play at QB. SN Bender (Tennessee Titans at Detroit Lions (-11.5):  This is the largest spread this season — and an indictment of how rough it's been for Tennessee through six games. The Titans' season-long bout with turnovers continues, and that minus-9 ratio will be tough to overcome against the Lions' hot offense. Jared Goff has an 85.3-percent completion percentage and averages 295.7 passing yards per game with seven TDs and no interceptions. There is some potential for a letdown after the last-second win at Minnesota, but not at home. CBS Prisco (Tennessee Titans at Detroit Lions (-11.5) - The Titans are out on the road for a second straight week. Their quarterback situation remains shaky. That's not a good thing when facing a team with an offense like the Lions. It will be tough to keep up for Tennessee. CBS Sullivan (Titans at Lions - The Titans just traded away DeAndre Hopkins, officially signaling that they are focusing on a greater plan than simply trying to win games in 2024. Even with Hopkins, the Titans were averaging 4.3 yards per play this season, which is second worst in the NFL. Now, they get a Lions team that hasn't been shy at running up the score in recent weeks, so the double-digit spread doesn't scare me off too much here. CBS Dajani (Tennessee Titans at Detroit Lions (-11.5) - The Lions are the best team in the NFL right now in my opinion. The Titans are easily bottom five. Detroit is actually the first team since the 1959-60 Browns to record more offensive touchdowns than incompletions over a four-game span. Jared Goff boasts an 83.5% completion percentage in his last four games, which is the best mark in a four-game span in NFL HISTORY.  The Titans have already traded wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins and linebacker Ernest Jones, and more moves could be on the way. The vibes aren't great in Tennessee. AP Pro (Tennessee (1-5) at Detroit (5-1) - Line: Lions minus 11 1/2.  Jared Goff has been exceptional, especially over the past three games. The Lions beat the Vikings on the road to reclaim the NFC North. With Super Bowl aspirations, Detroit isn’t looking back. The Titans are giving up the fewest yards per game (259.2), but the offense is next-to-last in yards and is averaging just 17.7 points. Mason Rudolph or Will Levis?
