Week 6 Power Rankings

FTW (1. Lions:  Last week’s rank: 3.  The Lions have a top-five offense and special teams unit, and their defense is passable enough to flex its muscles on any contender in a pinch. In other words, they can beat you in a shootout and lock you up when you need points most. In a stacked NFC North, Dan Campbell’s crew looks like the cream of the crop. Until further notice, Detroit is also the NFC’s Super Bowl favorite. — RZ):  https://ftw.usatoday.com/lists/nfl-power-rankings-week-6-bears-broncos-packers

PFN (2. Detroit Lions (3-1; LW: 1).  While the Lions’ defense remains a concern, especially coming off their most recent outing in which they allowed 516 yards from scrimmage, this is perhaps the most complete offensive unit in the NFL.  As talented as the Lions are, the NFC North division has proven to be a much more competitive division than expected. The Vikings have emerged as legitimate contenders, meanwhile the Packers and Bears are each 3-2 entering Week 6.  Detroit might still be the favorites to win the division, but winning their second consecutive NFC North title will be no easy task.):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-power-rankings-week-6-2024/

PFT’s Week 6 2024 NFL power rankings (2. Lions (No. 2; 3-1): Hopefully, Dan Skipper spent the bye week practicing his reporting-as-eligible technique; a return to Dallas is on deck.):  https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/pfts-week-6-2024-nfl-power-rankings

SI (2. Lions:  At the bye, we are finally starting to realize how good the Lions are. A team that is so maddening to play that the opponents they beat are often flattened the week after. A great find via Chris Long.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/nfl-power-rankings-ravens-chiefs-lions-jets-falcons

Walter football (3. Detroit Lions (3-1) – Previously: 4.  The Lions hadn’t played their best ahead of the Monday night game. That changed, as Jared Goff was a perfect 18-of-18. The defense is still struggling, but the Lions have some young pieces who can develop and have the stop unit performing at a high level later in the year.):  https://walterfootball.com/nflpowerrankings.php

Fox sports Brooks (3. Detroit Lions - Last week: 5.  The gritty Lions are a rare team capable of winning by force or finesse against the league's heavyweights. Dan Campbell's squad can punish opponents behind a smash-mouth running game powered by a pair of RB1s and a stout offensive line or rely on the efforts of a former No. 3 overall pick to spark an electric aerial attack. Given the Lions' explosiveness and balance, keeping Detroit out of the winner's circle down the stretch will be hard.):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/nfl-top-10-rankings-bucky-brooks-vikings-lions-cowboys

NFL.com (3. Lions:  The Lions could be 4-0, having let the Bucs game slip through their fingers before this past week's bye. That said, this year so far has played out similarly to 2023, when they tripped up against Seattle early but mostly held serve until the Ravens walloped them. Detroit could face some tough moments in this upcoming stretch of four road games in five weeks -- all of them tough challenges, too. But the good news is that the offense seems to be rounding into form, even while surely having left several points on the field in the first four games. The defense? Get back to me on that one. I won't overlook the work the unit put in during Weeks 1 through 3, keeping the Lions in those games while the offense treaded water, but in Detroit's most recent tilt, Seattle's Geno Smith and Kenneth Walker III diced up Aaron Glenn's unit. There are enough reasons to feel encouraged about the Lions going on another run, but also just enough trap doors not to get too, too comfy.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-power-rankings-week-6-2024-nfl-season

Yahoo (3. Lions:  The Lions can’t get caught looking ahead. They have what has become a massive game at Minnesota in Week 7, but first is a trip to Dallas. Losing that would put a ton of pressure on them to beat the Vikings a week later.):  https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-week-5-power-rankings-will-the-chiefs-or-vikings-be-the-last-undefeated-team-032846529.html

SN (4. Detroit Lions 3-1 (3):  The Lions are enjoying a bye while adding more balance and explosiveness to their offense, which has raised the defensive playmaking. They should be even more put together after the week off.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-power-rankings-week-6-commanders-ravens-49ers-bills/71c253bd318c73189ab3bd32

ESPN (4. Detroit Lions (3-1):  After a slow start to his NFL career, stalled by an ACL injury and gambling suspension, the No. 12 overall pick in 2022 is experiencing a breakout season. Through four games, Williams leads the Lions in receiving yards (289) and yards per catch (22.2), and is tied for the lead in receiving touchdowns (two). He's on pace for his first 1,000-yard season, as the Lions are using him as a big-play option next to All-Pro receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. "He's matured and he's worked and he's grinded and he wants it," coach Dan Campbell said. -- Eric Woodyard):  https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/41667341/nfl-power-rankings-week-6-poll-2024-fantasy-football-surprises

USA Today (4. Detroit Lions (4): Hope you fellas got your rest during the bye. Next up? A brutal five-stretch with road games at Dallas, Minnesota, Green Bay and Houston. However it's opponents who need a break from NFL sack leader Aidan Hutchinson, who applied 10 pressures in his last outing – most by anyone in a game this season.):  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/columnist/nate-davis/2024/10/08/nfl-power-rankings-rookie-quarterbacks-jayden-daniels-commanders/75566272007/

Fox sports (4. Detroit Lions:  Nothing personal, Lions, it's just that Minnesota and Baltimore snagged some impressive wins while Detroit sat idle in Week 5. The Lions have a big opportunity for a statement of their own this week with a chance at a revenge win in Dallas, where they lost a wacky one last winter.):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/2024-power-rankings

Fox News (4. Detroit Lions (3-1) - With the San Francisco 49ers struggling, the Lions are making a case as the top team in the NFC. Jared Goff is playing well, the offense is loaded, and the defensive line generates a lot of pressure. They’re tough to beat.):  https://www.foxnews.com/sports/fox-news-digital-sports-nfl-power-rankings-after-week-5-2024-nfl-season

PFF (5. Detroit Lions:  The Detroit Lions' bye week saw them watch every other team in the NFC North win this week, and the division continues to heat up. They’ll take on the Cowboys on the road in Week 6, and they’ll lean on an offense that’s fourth in EPA per play (0.095).):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-week-6-power-rankings-just-how-good-are-the-commanders

CBS (6. Lions:  They come off their bye with a big road game at Dallas against the Cowboys. Here's hoping they worked on their secondary play since they needed it.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-6-power-rankings-commanders-are-for-real-with-jayden-daniels-cowboys-falcons-enter-top-10/
