2025 NFL continuity rankings: Chiefs pace the field as NFC runner-up is in the basement (Teams with above-average continuity - 12. Lions, 64):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2025-nfl-continuity-rankings-chiefs-pace-the-field-as-nfc-runner-up-is-in-the-basement/

Ceiling, floor for all 32 NFL teams in 2025 (Detroit Lions - Ceiling: 13-4, win NFC Championship.  The Lions won 15 games last season and were the No. 1 seed in the NFC. A massive amount of injuries to the defense resulted in a loss in the NFC divisional round. Detroit is banking on health to get back to the top of the conference, with its core in place on offense and D.J. Reed the only major addition on defense. Getting Aidan Hutchinson back is a massive boost for that unit, adding to one of the most talented rosters in the NFL. This team is still very good, and can reach their first Super Bowl.  Floor: 10-7, lose in wild-card round.  Detroit lost both coordinators in the offseason (Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn) to head coaching jobs. How will that affect the continuity of the Lions early in the season? Will it linger throughout the year like the 1995 49ers and the 2023 Eagles, who also lost both their coordinators from the season prior? The Lions also play the most road games against teams above .500 from the previous seaosn in NFL history (8). They also are breaking in two new starting guards on the offensive line. Last year may have been the Lions' best chance to win it all, but that window is still open.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/each-nfl-teams-ceiling-and-floor-for-2025-who-can-knock-off-eagles-chiefs-teams-with-no-shot-at-winning/

NFL Preseason All-Rookie Team: Giants' Jaxson Dart headlines, Eagles and Ravens well-represented (Isaac TeSlaa:  TeSlaa looked as explosive as he did at Arkansas this summer, with 10 catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns for the Lions in the preseason, a few of which were highlight-reel scores. He did get the extra preseason game but I couldn't leave him off this list after how comfortable he appeared on the field for Detroit.  Jackson Meeks:  Meeks led all rookies with 176 yards receiving in August. In the second preseason game against the Dolphins, six of his seven catches went for first downs. In Atlanta, he caught a 68-yard touchdown.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-preseason-all-rookie-team-giants-jaxson-dart-headlines-eagles-and-ravens-well-represented/

One Division Dominates Our Ranking of the NFL’s Best Talent at 10 Positions (Running backs: Lions
The Sonic and Knuckles tandem is the most electrifying in the league, and also the most versatile.  Many were surprised when the Lions used the 12th pick in the 2023 draft on Jahmyr Gibbs, but he’s turned into a top-three back in the league along with Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry. Last season, Gibbs earned Pro Bowl honors for the second consecutive year, rushing for 1,412 yards and a league-high 16 touchdowns while averaging a whopping 5.6 yards per carry. He’s also a threat in the passing game, as the Alabama product caught 52 of 63 targets for 517 yards.  Meanwhile, David Montgomery is a terrific blocker who also ran for 775 yards and 12 scores. At 230 pounds, he’s a better option in the red zone and between the tackles. Last season, Montgomery and Gibbs combined for 3,045 total yards, the most of any running back duo.  Safeties: Lions - Detroit has plenty of reasons to worry about its defense, but the safeties aren’t one of them.   Under new coordinator Kelvin Sheppard, the Lions are going to rely heavily on their star tandem of Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph. In 2024, Joseph led the league with nine interceptions after totaling eight picks over his first two seasons, earning first-team All-Pro honors.  Branch is a versatile, Pro Bowl defensive back who alternates between playing in the slot and deep coverage. Few players are more valuable to their team than the 2023 second-round pick, who gives Sheppard a weapon to deploy all over the field.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/one-division-dominates-ranking-nfl-best-talent-10-positions-2025

Five NFL teams that could stumble in early season (Detroit Lions:  If Dan Campbell's crew really does feel the effects of substantial attrition, it should be apparent in short order. While new coordinators John Morton and Kelvin Sheppard can stand firm on the foundation put in place by their predecessors, replacing eight assistant coaches in total is bound to yield some instability. An offensive line that ranked as one of the league's elite once looked perfectly capable of ironing out imperfections elsewhere, but the loss of Kevin Zeitler and Frank Ragnow, the latter serving as the mainstay in the middle, leaves a lot for rookie Tate Ratledge and second-year blocker Christian Mahogany to take on in starting roles.  The biggest issue for Detroit, however, is its unrelenting schedule. Road matchups against the Packers, Bengals, Ravens and Chiefs will keep the Lions on their toes in the first six weeks, and a brutal four-game stretch that features the Buccaneers, Vikings, Commanders and Eagles follows.  After a historic 15-win campaign in 2024, success can and should be measured differently for Detroit moving forward. That's good for all involved, because matching the regular-season output amid so much change will be a nearly impossible task for a still-formidable group.):  https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2025/09/01/nfl-teams-slow-starts-2025-schedule-bengals-chiefs/85924859007/

NFL Overrated and Underrated Teams (NFL Overrated Teams:  Detroit Lions:  There’s a lot going against the Lions this year. They lost both coordinators this offseason, which will be difficult to overcome on its own. Jared Goff could struggle, given that he’ll be coached by someone not named Ben Johnson or Sean McVay for the first time since his dreadful rookie year. Detroit also lost two talented interior offensive linemen to free agency/retirement, including Frank Ragnow, one of the top centers in the NFL. And the Lions aren’t completely healthy, with some players, including the talented Alim McNeill, still recovering from injuries suffered in 2024.):  https://walterfootball.com/overratedunderrated.php
