PFF Grades and Data: Key insights for every NFL Week 2 game (Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions:  Darnell Wright continues to establish himself as one of the league’s top young offensive tackles. In Week 1, the Bears’ right tackle didn’t allow a single pressure across 43 pass-blocking snaps — the seventh clean sheet of his career.  For Detroit, pressuring the quarterback was a challenge against Green Bay. The Lions posted just a 26% pressure rate, ranking 28th league-wide, and generated only one quick pressure (under 2.5 seconds).  They’ll aim for a bounce-back performance against a familiar opponent. In two games against Chicago last season, Detroit totaled seven sacks, nine quarterback hits and 16 quick pressures, resulting in a 35% pressure rate.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-pff-grades-data-key-insights-nfl-week-2

NFL wide receiver rankings ahead of Week 2 (19. Amon-Ra St. Brown, Detroit Lions (69.6):  St. Brown hauled in four of his five targets against Green Bay for 45 yards, all first downs. His longest catch of the day was a 19-yard gain that came late in the first quarter. The play came against double coverage, and St. Brown was able to lose his defender on the route and make the catch along the sideline.  Three of his targets came from the slot, where he made two catches. He was also targeted four times against zone coverage.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-wide-receiver-rankings-week-2-2025

NFL Week 2 Preview: Schedule, storylines, matchups to watch and betting spreads (Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions (-6) - Storyline: Ben Johnson’s return to Detroit.  After six seasons with the Lions — including the past three as offensive coordinator — Bears head coach Ben Johnson returns to Detroit to take on his former team. Neither team started their new eras on a high note. The Lions looked lost offensively in their first outing without Johnson calling plays, ranking 23rd and 26th in EPA per play and team PFF offensive grade (60.1), respectively. Conversely, Johnson’s debut in Chicago was spoiled by a late comeback from Minnesota. Both teams will aim to get on the right track and capture their first divisional win of the year.): https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-week-2-preview-schedule-storylines-matchups-2025

2025 NFL QB rankings, Week 2: Patrick Mahomes dethroned; Jalen Hurts cracks top 10 (14.  Jared Goff
Jared Goff - 2025 stats: 1 game | 79.5 pct | 225 pass yds | 5.8 ypa | 1 pass TD | 1 INT | -1 rush yds | 0 rush TDs | 0 fumbles.  Justin Herbert was excellent in his season debut, dicing up Kansas City's secondary and executing a well-crafted game plan to take down the Chiefs. We were all reminded of how gifted he is as a passer and received some fresh evidence of how he can power his team to victory with a clutch gene that seemed to be hidden at times a year ago.  Matthew Stafford tossed some absolute dimes in the win over the Texans and almost singlehandedly threw the Rams to victory with an exquisite drive to open the second half. The stats and final score might not stand out, but the tape is undeniable.
Jalen Hurts put the Eagles on his back and carried them to victory over the Cowboys in a fashion we haven't seen from him in a while, tallying more scrambling scores in one game (2) than he had in all of 2024. If this is the next step in the Eagles' offensive evolution, Hurts is going to sit in the top 10 all season. He might even creep up into Tier 1 before long.  Houston's offensive line still isn't holding up well for C.J. Stroud, but there were minor improvements compared to last year's nightmare. He overcame it in spots and delivered some beautiful passes, but it still needs to be better for him to truly be at his best.
Week 1 gave us a perfect example of the duality of Brock Purdy's game. He led an excellent early touchdown drive, threw a couple of interceptions, then got up off the mat and completed a truly unbelievable (because I was sure it was going to be intercepted) game-winning touchdown pass amid a chaotic final few minutes. We later learned he did so while dealing with a toe injury that is expected to sideline him for weeks, which makes Sunday's finish even more impressive.  Seen as a play-action merchant by some, Jared Goff struggled when asked to carry the Lions amid a non-existent run game and an aggressive Green Bay pass rush that moved him off his spot plenty. It's fair to be slightly concerned about how Detroit might operate this season if it's frequently forced out of its offensive comfort zone like it was in the opener.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-qb-rankings-index-week-2-2025-nfl-season

Which 0-1 NFL teams need a win most? (Detroit Lions - Tier 2: We've got bigger plans - All three of these teams have designs not just on winning their respective divisions, but also on capturing the top seed in their conference and advancing to the conference title game or beyond. Dropping to 0-2 would obviously put a significant crimp in those plans.  Detroit Lions:  The Lions lost a division game to the Packers wherein they didn't look like they belonged on the same field as their opponents. They have another division foe on tap this week in the Bears, and as alluded to, the upcoming schedule is not forgiving. They do have the Browns in Week 4, but they'll face the Ravens in Week 3, Bengals in Week 5, Chiefs in Week 6 and Bucs in Week 7 before taking their bye in Week 8. Getting back to 1-1 is imperative before entering that tough stretch -- especially if they want to remain competitive in the division and not just the wild card race.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/which-0-1-nfl-teams-need-a-win-most-chiefs-can-afford-patience-dolphins-and-giants-staffs-under-fire/

Agent's Take: 2025 ultimate 53-man roster (Kerby Joseph:  Kerby Joseph led the NFL with nine interceptions and earned first-team All-Pro honors.  Brian Branch:  Brian Branch joins Joseph at safety. The duo is arguably the NFL's best safety tandem. Kyle Hamilton's 2025 cap number increasing to $8,733,620 in the four-year, $100.4 million extension he recently signed with the Ravens -- to reset the safety market at $25.1 million per year -- factored into the equation.):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/agents-take-2025-ultimate-53-man-roster-thats-the-best-team-money-can-buy/
