He tore his ACL during position drills but stayed around to take part in the bench press despite needing crutches to get to the bench while his injured leg in a full-length sleeve. That alone is the type of “grit” you would have to respect, but he proceeded to knock out 38 repetitions — the most of any offensive lineman despite that leg just hanging uselessly off the bench. Lions 2023 draft: An offensive guard for every round (7th round: Andrew Vorhees, USC - Vorhees is a prospect who would almost certainly be a Day 2 pick this year if not for an unfortunate injury. The USC bruiser tore his ACL at the Scouting Combine in early March. As a result, he’s almost certainly going to miss his entire rookie season. He’ll be a draft-and-stash for a team that is willing to wait for a good all-around guard prospect. Jordan Addison shows off smooth route-running ability at USC Pro Day (Another top draft prospect for the Trojans who did not work out but has received some attention nationally is Andrew Vorhees. The offensive lineman generated headlines when he posted a combine-high 38 reps at 225 pounds in the bench press just two hours after finding out he had sustained a torn ACL in his right knee during offensive line drills the day before. Projected as a Day 2 pick, Vorhees said he'll have surgery next week to repair the torn ligament. He said he could have put up 50 reps at 225 if he were healthy. My Guys: Trevor Sikkema's early favorite 2023 NFL Draft prospects (IOL ANDREW VORHEES, USC: Every summer when building the list of potential prospects for the next draft class, I’m reminded of a player or two who make me say, “How in the world is this guy not in the pros yet?” One of those players is Andrew Vorhees. The redshirt senior has already played in 44 games for the Trojans and is coming off his best year yet. He’s the only returning offensive lineman in the country to earn run- and pass-blocking grades over 90.0 last season. He could’ve been an early Day 2 pick last year. Early 2023 NFL Draft IOL Rankings: Kansas State's Cooper Beebe and USC's Andrew Vorhees lead the pack (2. ANDREW VORHEES, USC (6TH-YEAR SENIOR): From a draft perspective, Vorhees was a massive surprise to even return to USC. He had a breakout season split between left guard and left tackle — his fifth-year starting for USC! At 6-foot-6 and 320 pounds with his movement skills, he could be evaluated as a tackle for teams as well. The only explanation is that Vorhees has to be a Trojan lifer who wants to play a part in the program’s revival under Lincoln Riley. Truthfully, his tape doesn’t need much more seasoning to be considered a top-75 pick. He’s the only returning offensive lineman in the country to earn run and pass-blocking grades over 90.0 last season.) Offensive linemen to watch for the 2023 NFL draft (Andrew Vorhees, T, USC: They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, as you can tell, Andrew Vorhees is an experienced offensive lineman. He enrolled early at USC in the spring of 2017 after graduating a semester early from Kingsburg High School in Kingsburg, California. As a true freshman in 2017, he started the final nine games of the season at right guard. In 2018, he started 11 games at right guard for the Trojans, but also saw some snaps at tackle. Vorhees suffered an ankle injury in the second game of the 2019 campaign, and took a medical redshirt. He returned for the shortened-2020 season, starting five games at left guard. This past season, he started eight games at left guard, and four more at left tackle, where he finished the season. He earned Third-Team All-American honors, and was named a First-Team All-Pac-12 selection. And yes, he blocked for Sam Darnold in college.)
