NFL stats and records, Week 10: Colts' Jonathan Taylor, Rams' Matthew Stafford making history, MVP cases (4. Gibbs runs to rarefied air - Dan Campbell took over offensive play-calling duties and Jahmyr Gibbs took over the game, as the Lions restored the roar to the tune of 44 points against the Commanders in Week 10. The 23-year-old star rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns, and added 30 more yards and a touchdown through the air, finishing with 172 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns in Week 10.  Gibbs, who led the NFL with 20 touchdowns scored in 2024, now has 41 in his young career. There are only four players in the history of the NFL with more touchdowns than Gibbs before their 24th birthday and they are all certified-platinum Hall of Famers: Barry Sanders (47 touchdowns), Randy Moss (44), Emmitt Smith (43) and Jim Brown (42). What we learned about NFL playoff contenders in Week 10 (Detroit Lions (6-3):  Dan Campbell can dial it up. Campbell took over play-calling from offensive coordinator John Morton for this game against Washington and the Lions looked both efficient and explosive throughout. He did a great job of getting the ball to all of the team's playmakers, up to and including Jameson Williams, who had been an afterthought for much of this year. In the end, Sunday's game against the Commanders was the second-best game of the Campbell era by EPA per play on offense, according to TruMedia. By success rate, it was the sixth-best. And that's out of 77 total games. NFL Week 10 Takeaways: Ben Johnson’s Three Stages of Team Building Benefit Caleb Williams (Detroit Lions - While we’re there, I’d applaud Dan Campbell doing what needs to be done with his team. Yes, it’s a big story that he’s calling plays for the Lions. But I’m not sure this is the first time he’s had to step in and do it. After the team’s Week 2 blowout of the Bears, Jahmyr Gibbs told me communication had been cleaned up following the season-opening loss to the Packers. The following week, during the Lions’ 38–30 win over the Ravens on Monday Night Football, I noticed Campbell standing alone while the offense was on the field with a playsheet in hand, talking into his headset.  That didn’t mean he was calling plays. However, it did indicate he was much more involved.  From 2022 to ’24, he didn’t need to be as much. Johnson did his own thing as offensive coordinator. He was entrusted to go into his bunker on Monday and Tuesday and come out with the game plan on Wednesday, and call it on Sunday. So Campbell could be the CEO.  This year, that’s not the case—and a good coach will always give his team what it needs. If that’s play-calling for the rest of the year, so be it. And if yesterday was the first time he’s done it full-on this year, then that was a pretty good start. 7 fastest players in the NFL in Week 10: How Patriots landed top three spots according to Next Gen Stats (T-3. Jameson Williams, WR, Lions (21.38 MPH) - Top speed: 21.38 mph.  Play type: 41-yard reception.  What a day it was for the Lions, who hung 44 points on the Washington Commanders with Dan Campbell taking over play-calling duties from OC John Morton. The play-calling change and the ineptitude of the Commanders' defense were factors in the offensive explosion, but pure speed matters, too. Jameson Williams certainly flashed it, topping out at 21.38 mph on a 41-yard reception on the second play of a third quarter drive that would end in a field goal for Detroit. Williams finished the day with a season-high 119 yards plus a touchdown. 5. Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Lions (21.11 MPH) - Top speed: 21.11 mph.  Play type: 43-yard touchdown run.  Already one of four players to touch 22 mph this season, Jahmyr Gibbs let Williams have the shine by staying at 21.11 mph on a 43-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter of Sunday's blowout. Some might have wondered why Gibbs was still in the game at all with the Lions up by three possessions, but the third-year running back officially put it to bed when he let his blockers set up the play and darted down the right sideline to extend Detroit's lead to 25. NFL: Top 10 running backs in Week 10 (9. Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions (Previous Ranking: 4).  Jahmyr Gibbs may have been a bit high last week, so I’ll take the blame on that one. NFL Game Recaps: Week 10, 2025 (Lions 44, Redskins 22 - The Lions were not a happy bunch entering this game. Not only were they coming off a loss to the Vikings; they wanted playoff revenge against the Redskins. It didn’t take them very long to score after they got possession following a Washington three-and-out. The Lions faced some adversity when Penei Sewell suffered an injury, but that didn’t affect the overall result. The Lions scored on every single drive in the first half and then the initial possession in the third quarter. This touchdown in the third frame put the Lions up 32-10.  The Redskins were able to put together a touchdown drive after that. Aided by the announcing of President Donald Trump, who joined the FOX Sports broadcasting booth, Mariota found Deebo Samuel for a touchdown. This gave the Redskins some temporary hope, but that quickly vanished.  The Lions, who had head coach Dan Campbell calling the plays, scored on the next two possessions to crush any dreams Washington had of pulling an upset.
