Detroit is in a critical November stretch and viewed this game as a "must-win," according to Lions edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, but big matchups remain on the team's immediate schedule. Detroit is now 0-3 against Philadelphia since coach Dan Campbell was hired in 2021, and this game served as a barometer for where it stacks up against the league's elite as it still has things to work on, including better efficiency on third and fourth downs and stronger protection from the offensive line. NFL Week 11 takeaways: What We Learned from Sunday's 13 games (Lions-Eagles - Grant Gordon's takeaways:  1. Another gem for Philly D. For a second straight game in a prime time, the Eagles defense won the night. Vic Fangio’s squad smothered the high-powered Detroit offense just six evenings after stymying another NFC North foe, the Packers, on Monday Night Football. Trade deadline acquisition Jaelan Phillips has been a force for Philly. He earned his first sack as an Eagle and led the team for a second straight week in QB pressures, this time with six. Aside from giving up some explosive plays to Jahmyr Gibbs (who doesn’t?), the Eagles D rendered the Lions relatively toothless as Detroit scored a season-low six points and was just 3 of 13 on third down en route to 317 total yards. Eagles defensive back Cooper DeJean earned his first regular-season interception, cornerback Quinyon Mitchell was absolutely stellar in coverage and the Eagles had 10 (!) pass breakups with Jordan Davis tallying three. For all the drama and headlines the Eagles offense garners, Philly’s defense is blooming into Super Bowl form as the Eagles move into Week 12 owning the NFC’s top seed.  2.  Rough Round 2 for Campbell. In Week 10, Lions head coach Dan Campbell took over play-calling responsibilities from offensive coordinator John Morton and his offense responded in kind with a 44-point showing during a blowout win over the Washington Commanders. The second sampling was borderline dreadful. Jared Goff was uncomfortable all night, frequently firing balls low to his receivers with many of his higher offerings getting batted down. After a scoreless first quarter, the Lions finally found pay dirt when Goff hit Jameson Williams across the middle for a 40-yard score, but even that was sullied by a Williams penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct following a celebration. That led to a long Jake Bates extra point attempt that went awry in the windy Philly night. Campbell, always the gambler, came up a big loser against the house, as the Lions went 0 of 5 on fourth down, including a stuffed fake punt attempt in the first half. The Lions couldn’t move the chains on the most important downs, evidenced further by them going 0 of 5 on third down through their first eight drives. Amon-Ra St. Brown was a glaring non-factor as he had just two catches on 12 targets for 42 Yards. Clearly, Campbell didn’t think all was well with the offense when he decided to take the reins. Turns out, he offered no such fix-all tonic. The Lions offense still needs tweaking as Detroit has fallen out of first place and into third in the NFC North.  3. Eagles offensive stars show some shine, but still not nearly enough. When Williams’ 40-yard score knotted the game at 6, Philadelphia’s offense responded with the counter you would hope to see. Other than Saquon Barkley having to recover a botched handoff between Jalen Hurts and Cam Jurgens, the Eagles looked rather marvelous in a go-ahead 10-play, 64-yard touchdown drive. Hurts hit A.J. Brown over the middle for an 11-yard first down that drew a massive cheer from the home crowd. On the next play, Barkley appeared to score from 5 yards. It was overturned on replay, leading to a Hurts tush push score. Each of the Eagles’ offensive stars offered up plays that serve as reason why so many believe they are capable of so much more. All told, the Eagles were outgained, 317-272, with Hurts throwing for fewer than 200 yards, Barkley held to 3.2 yards per carry and Brown’s team-best seven receptions going for just 49 yards. Philly has won four straight now, but the offense remains out of rhythm with six regular-season games remaining to work out the kinks.  Next Gen Stats Insight for Lions-Eagles (Via NFL Pro): Jaelan Phillips had six QB pressures on Sunday night, giving him 13 combined in his first two games for Philadelphia, having led his team each game (Jalyx Hunt also had six on Sunday to tie for the team high).  NFL Research: The Eagles have won consecutive games despite scoring fewer than 20 points in each game for the first time since Weeks 14-15, 2004. Grades:

CBS  (Lions Grade:   C- . Sometimes when you gamble, you go home broke and that's what happened to the Lions on Sunday night. Dan Campbell is one of the most aggressive coaches in the NFL and that aggressiveness backfired with the Lions getting stopped cold on five fourth-down attempts, including a fake punt. The Lions offense struggled because the Eagles were able to rattle Jared Goff. He got hit multiple times on an erratic night where he completed just 37.8% of his passes, which is the lowest completion rate of his career. Detroit's biggest plays came on short dump-offs from Goff to Jahmyr Gibbs. If the Lions (6-4) continue to play like this against defenses that can put pressure on Goff, their season is going to end with another short playoff trip and that's if they even make the playoffs.
