2026 Senior Bowl Practice Observations: Caleb Banks, T.J. Parker Take Field in Mobile (Reggie Virgil, WR, National - Day 1 Update: Reggie Virgil was one of two Texas Tech WRs to flourish on Day 1. He beat Chris Johnson on an intermediate curl route with rapid plant-and-drive footwork and instant deceleration, tracked a back-shoulder ball perfectly in team drills, and showed resolute focus and coordination working in congestion. Day 2 Update: The Senior Bowl is important for a lot of reasons, but one of the chief reasons is seeing prospects’ move set in-person. Few prospects, in that regard, have been more impressive than Reggie Virgil. At 6’2 3/8″ and 188 pounds, Virgil’s wiry build and long speed stand out immediately, but just as eye-catching has been his lateral range on releases, fluidity on breaks, and deceleration capacity at the top of routes. On Wednesday, he beat Hezekiah Masses deep for a completion in 1-on-1s, using a springy split release to bait Masses into over-setting, before sealing the deal with a late lean to gain space. And in team drills, his curvilinear acceleration and keen zone vision made him a consistently available target. Day 3 Update: Reggie Virgil showed out across the first two days, but his third day was nothing short of a disaster. Virgil didn’t look nearly as fluid or coordinated on his route breaks, and he dropped almost every pass that came his way. Even in warm-ups, it was clear he was out of sorts. This might be a day that evaluators decide to “burn the tape” on for Virgil. He’s shown he can play at a high level before, but Thursday was a bad day for him, and it snowballed when he lost his composure early. He accomplished enough on Days 1 and 2 to stabilize his stock, but he needs to maintain that standard.) (1-31-26): https://www.profootballnetwork.com/senior-bowl-practice-observations-day-1-2026/
Top offensive performers and draft risers from Senior Bowl practices (Texas Tech WR Reggie Virgil: Texas Tech's passing game might have been the least talked-about part of its run to the College Football Playoff this season, with the defense leading the way and the running game often carrying the offense. So it's understandable if casual college football fans haven't had many conversations about Red Raiders wide receiver Reggie Virgil, but NFL scouts certainly have this week after watching him at Senior Bowl practices. Virgil came to the Red Raiders this past year after three seasons at Miami of Ohio and led the Red Raiders with 57 catches for 705 yards and 6 TDs, plus 2 rushing TDs. The 6-foot-2, 188-pound playmaker really made a name for himself this week, though. Here's what Jeremiah, the NFL.com draft analyst, wrote about Virgil's performance: "Virgil impressed me every day of practice. He has excellent size (6-2, 188) and is a very smooth athlete with the speed to take the top off the defense. I like his production, too -- he posted 15 TD catches in the past two seasons. Aside from Malachi Fields, Virgil was the receiver who stood out most to me this week.") Senior Bowl Day 2 Risers: Tyren Montgomery Has All the Buzz, Caleb Banks Breaks Through (Reggie Virgil, WR, Texas Tech: The Senior Bowl is important for a lot of reasons, but one of the chief reasons is seeing prospects’ move set in-person. Few prospects, in that regard, have been more impressive than Reggie Virgil. At 6’2 3/8″ and 190 pounds, Virgil’s wiry build and long speed stand out immediately, but just as eye-catching has been his lateral range on releases, fluidity on breaks, and deceleration capacity at the top of routes. On Wednesday, he beat Hezekiah Masses deep for a completion in 1-on-1s, using a springy split release to bait Masses into over-setting, before sealing the deal with a late lean to gain space. Senior Bowl National Team Standouts: 4 Big Winners From Wednesday (Reggie Virgil, WR, Texas Tech: Texas Tech wide receiver Reggie Virgil built on Tuesday’s showing with another strong performance on Wednesday. Virgil continues to display a vertical skill set. As the old adage goes: If he’s even, he’s leavin’. The Red Raiders standout has arguably been the smoothest receiver in attendance through two days. North Dakota State quarterback Cole Payton located Virgil for a deep touchdown with Thaddeus Dixon in coverage. Virgil has consistently displayed take-the-top-off speed. He'll stretch defenses vertically at the next level.) (1-28-26): https://thedraftnetwork.com/2026/01/28/senior-bowl-national-team-wednesday-winners
Senior Bowl Standouts: 4 National Team WR/TEs Shine (Reggie Virgil, WR, Texas Tech: Texas Tech wide receiver Reggie Virgil was among the impressive pass-catchers in the National Team practice. Virgil made a play vertically on a corner route and also got the better of San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson during one-on-one drills. The Red Raiders standout saw heavy action during seven-on-seven drills and made the most of his reps. Virgil weighed in at nearly 6-foot-3 and 188 pounds. The big-bodied wideout deserves more recognition after recording 1,521 yards and 15 touchdowns over the previous two seasons. If Virgil continues practicing with the same consistency, he'll remain a conversation topic among scouts.) (1-27-26): https://thedraftnetwork.com/2026/01/27/senior-bowl-tuesday-practice-national
Senior Bowl 2026 RB/WR Primer (Reggie Virgil, WR, Texas Tech: Texas Tech's Reggie Virgil is a well-rounded receiver prospect. Virgil pairs quickness with instincts, strong hands, and route-running prowess. He’ll align everywhere at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds.) 2026 NFL Draft – Stock Report (Up - Reggie Virgil, WR, Texas Tech: The Red Raiders spread the ball around, but got steady play from their receivers Virgil and Caleb Douglas. In 2025, Virgil entered the college football playoff with 55 catches for 676 yards with six touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Virgil has good size for the NFL. He earned a Senior Bowl invitation, and if he shows he can separate from the all-star cornerbacks, that could help Virgil rise.) (12/16/25): https://walterfootball.com/draft2026stock_16.php
