2026 NFL free agency grades for all 32 teams (Detroit Lions: C. C Cade Mays signs with Detroit Lions.  2025 PFF Grade: 61.0, 2025 PFF WAR: 0.02, Contract: 3 years, $25 million, PFF Projected Contract: 1 year, $4.5 million, PFF Deal Grade: Average.  Mays is solid in pass protection, having earned a 67.6 PFF pass-blocking grade in 2025, but has endured struggles as a run blocker. He ranked in the 20th percentile for negatively graded run-blocking plays last season. Given who the Lions want to be on offense, that is a bit of a concern. This deal could work out for the Lions, but it comes with a reasonable amount of risk. RB Isiah Pacheco signs with Detroit Lions - 2025 PFF Grade: 58.6, 2025 PFF WAR: 0.05, Contract: TBD, PFF Projected Contract: 1 year, $2.25 million, PFF Deal Grade: Average.  This is a sensible replacement for David Montgomery, and it's a good situation where Pacheco doesn't need to be a feature back. He's still only 27 years old and has just four years of tread on the tires. In a role where he doesn't need to be overworked, he could get back to being a punishing runner for opposing defenses to tackle.  CB Rock Ya-Sin re-signs with Detroit Lions - 2025 PFF Grade: 64.7, 2025 PFF WAR: 0.24, Contract: 1 year, $4 million, PFF Projected Contract: 1 year, $6.5 million, PFF Deal Grade: Above Average.  Ya-Sin was effective for the Lions in 2025, seeing 611 snaps and earning a 67.1 PFF coverage grade. He came away with five pass breakups and allowed just a single touchdown on throws into his coverage. He's a solid player, and the Lions are bringing him back without spending too much, which makes sense, given that he is likely to be in a reserve role.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-free-agency-grades

The Good, Bad and Ugly: Rams, 49ers Nail 2026 NFL Free Agency (Bad: The talent drain going on in Detroit
In January of 2024, the Lions held a 17-point lead in the third quarter of the NFC title game and lost. After the game, coach Dan Campbell famously said, “This may have been our only shot.” He wanted his team to understand how difficult it would be to get back to another championship game. He looks more right by the minute. Since then, the talent exodus in Detroit has been significant. The Lions have lost Frank Ragnow, Graham Glasgow and Taylor Decker from the offensive line. They traded away David Montgomery to the Texans earlier this month. On defense, Alex Anzalone and Al-Quadin Muhammad left in free agency in the past week. Of course, the Lions also lost both coordinators a year ago when Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson took jobs with the Jets and Bears, respectively. And as a result, Detroit missed the playoffs for the first time in three years. Going into the second wave of free agency, Detroit has major questions. Yes, the roster still has top-end talent such as Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Sam LaPorta and Aidan Hutchinson, but even that area has concerns. Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph are All-Pro defensive backs, yet Branch is rehabbing a torn Achilles tendon, while Joseph sustained a serious left knee injury, sidelining him for the last 11 games of the year. The Lions have glaring needs on the offensive line and at all three levels of the defense. The coaching staff needs to be better than what we saw in 2025, when the offense scored 4.9 points per game fewer, while the defense ranked 18th in points and 22nd in points allowed. If Detroit doesn’t nail the draft, it could struggle to make the postseason.):  https://www.si.com/nfl/good-bad-ugly-rams-49ers-nail-2026-nfl-free-agency
