LSU players in college football top-150 list for 2025 season (LSU showed the biggest growth in the secondary this season and two of its biggest starts continue to bring in the accolades. On Thursday morning, the team at CBS Sports released the top-150 players of the college football season. A pair of defensive backs for LSU made not only the top-150 but were among the two highest ranked secondary players in the country for 2025.   Cornerback Mansoor Delane was ranked No. 14 overall while safety A.J. Haulcy came in at No. 54 overall. Not only was Delane ranked as one of the 14 best players in college football on Thursday, he was also voted a unanimous first-team All-American when the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) released its teams. Like Delane, Haulcy was also recently listed to an All-American team by Sporting News. Haulcy was another one of the bigger signings for LSU in the last cycle, which was really impressive considering how late in the process he joined the program.  Haulcy joined the Tigers in the spring window and wound up leading the Tigers in tackles with 88 on the season. He had a four-game stretch with double-digit tackles against Ole Miss (13), South Carolina (12), Vanderbilt (13) and Texas A&M (12). In 702 defensive snaps, Haulcy added three interceptions, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and a tackle for loss. In 406 pass coverage snaps, he gave up only one touchdown and limited opponents to just 24 receptions.  "Haulcy was impactful in both phases, serving as a physical presence in run support while leading the SEC with 88 tackles. He also made plays on the back end, finishing with three interceptions. An underrated defender, Haulcy consistently plays with strong awareness, understands leverage and opponent tendencies and closes angles effectively."  Both Delane and Haulcy helped rebuild and set the standard for the LSU secondary in 2025. Their style of play was reminiscent of how past successful iterations of the defensive backfield have largely been tone setters for the roster. LSU’s Delane, A.J. Haulcy earn first-team All-SEC acclaim (BATON ROUGE – LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane and safety A.J. 2026 NFL Draft Stock Report: Versatile DBs Moving Up the Board (Stock Up: DB A.J. Three takeaways from LSU football’s humbling loss to Texas A&M (A.J. Haulcy stepped up for the defense
With star linebacker Whit Weeks out of the picture for now, someone on the defense had to step up against Texas A&M, and that someone was Haulcy.  Storming into Tiger Stadium with 52 total tackles this season, Haulcy brought the heat as he secured a momentous interception in the second quarter. This drove the momentum momentarily in the Tigers’ favor as the Aggies had been threatening to score on LSU’s 3-yard line.  Following that interception, Haulcy secured 12 total tackles on the night, leading LSU’s defense.  Had there been more coordination on the defensive side of the ball, viewers would have likely seen bigger and better things from Haulcy beyond what he managed to bring to the field.

I think he’s a “difference maker” in the truest form of the term.  Haulcy has great size, good speed and exceptional instincts. To me, he represents the elixir to LSU’s safety problems from a year ago. I expect Haulcy to challenge for the team lead in tackles and to make a few plays on the ball in the passing game. It’s what he’s done for three years elsewhere. And it’s what we’ve seen in camp. Again, LSU has real depth at safety.
