The most underrated prospects in the 2022 NFL draft class (Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming: Muma proved to be one of the NCAA’s most effectively versatile linebackers in 2021. He put up 21 pressures, 68 stops, 115 solo tackles, three interceptions, and he allowed an opponent passer rating of 77.5. Logan Wilson of the Bengals proved last season that a Wyoming linebacker can be one of the most important players on an NFL defense, and Muma appears to have even more on the ball from a potential perspective. Muma is great at working through gaps and sifting through trash to get to the ballcarrier.. And on this pick-six against Ball State, watch how he waits for the tight end’s sit route to develop, and then, he jumps in and takes it to the house. Muma isn’t an old-school forward-moving linebacker; he’s all about versatility and movement and spacing — which means that he’s precisely what the modern NFL requires at the position.) Perfect Draft Fits for Lions (Chad Muma, Wyoming: Muma is a pure run-stopper. The Wyoming product made 142 tackles in his senior season at Wyoming, serving as an anchor for his defense. He also picked off three passes in 2021, showing off his ability to get out and cover the pass. The Lions could use this, as the unit was picked apart in the passing game last season. Muma played just 33 games over four seasons in his college career, so there’s some polish needed. There’s no questioning his toughness, though, and he could turn out to be a solid Day 2 pick.) My Guys: Ben Linsey's top targets in the 2022 NFL Draft (LB CHAD MUMA, WYOMING COWBOYS: Teams bet on athletic traits early at linebacker, often at the expense of the important instincts at the position. Muma has some of the best “feel” in the class, both when navigating traffic to come downhill and make plays against the run and when dropping in coverage. He doesn’t sacrifice much athleticism, either. Add in back-to-back seasons with a PFF tackling grade above 85.0, and Muma is one of the more well-rounded linebacker prospects in this class. He’ll be well worth the selection wherever he ends up coming off the board on Day 2.) (4-22-22): https://www.pff.com/news/draft-my-guys-top-picks-2022-nfl-draft-ben-linsey
2022 NFL Draft Position Rankings: Linebackers (7. CHAD MUMA, WYOMING (BIG BOARD RANK: 63): Muma was one of the most productive defenders in all of college football in 2021, generating 68 total defensive stops, three picks and 21 pressures for the Cowboys. At 6-foot-3, 242 pounds, he has legit NFL size and athleticism.) (4-22-22): https://www.pff.com/news/draft-top-2022-nfl-draft-rankings-linebackers-nakobe-dean-devin-lloyd
2022 NFL Draft: Ranking the top off-ball linebackers in this year’s class (Tier 2
Chad Muma (Wyoming), 6-foot-2 1⁄2 , 239 pounds: If the Lions don’t manage to pick up Lloyd or Dean at the top of the draft, then that’s perfectly fine, because this linebacker class is littered with prospects worthy of a Day 2/Early Day 3 selection. Not only that, but most of those guys tested extremely well at the combine or at their pro days. It’s the perfect year to want a speedy linebacker. Chad Muma is one of those guys. It’s not just testing and numbers with Muma, though. He’s got the tape to back it up. As a run defender, Muma doesn’t let many ball carriers slip by him. In 2021, he finished with 50 run stops and a missed tackle rate of only 8.1 percent. He also improved on his coverage skills last year and ended the year with three interceptions thanks to his stellar instincts and understanding of routes developing in front of him. Muma is a scheme-versatile linebacker and has two years of starting experience as a middle linebacker in Wyoming’s 4-2-5 scheme, making him a great fit for the Lions as they switch to a four-man front in 2022. Muma will likely be available in the second or third round if the Lions are interested in beefing up their front-seven. Round grade: 2nd round.) 2022 NFL draft: The top 11 linebackers (4. Chad Muma, Wyoming (Height: 6’3″ (82nd) Weight: 239 (59th), 40-Yard Dash: 4.63 seconds (63rd), Bench Press: 27 reps (90th), Vertical Jump: 40 inches (96th), Broad Jump: 10’9″ (96th), 3-Cone Drill: 7.06 seconds, 20-Yard Shuttle: 4.28 seconds (58th)): Bio: In the seventh grade, Chad Muma was diagnoses with Type 1 diabetes, but that did not stop him from following in some family footsteps. Like his father and grandfather, Muma played college football at Wyoming. Prior to his days in Laramie, Muma was a defensive back for Legend High School in Parker, Colorado, and he was named a Second-Team Class 5A All-State player as a senior. That year he notched 77 tackles, despite missing half of the season due to a knee injury. While he had offers from other Mountain West schools such as Nevada, Colorado State and Hawaii, he followed his father and grandfather to Wyoming. He played mostly on special teams as a true freshman, but carved out a bigger role as a sophomore in 2019, recording 51 total tackles. Similar to his final year in high school, Muma recorded 71 tackles during the 2020 campaign, despite playing just six games in the COVID-shortened season. This past year was beyond impressive, as Muma tallied 142 tackles and three interceptions. Muma was a finalist for the Butkus Award, a Third-Team All-American, and earned an invitation to the Senior Bowl. Stat to Know: Muma is another all-around linebacker in an impressive draft class. His 50 run stops ranked him second in the nation among linebackers. His 16 coverage stops ranked him tenth. Strengths: You can imagine a scenario where a linebacker posts the kind of numbers Muma did this past season at a Power Five school, and suddenly we are talking about a player in contention for LB1 status. As it is, Muma is still on the fringe of the discussion thanks to what he put on tape the past few seasons. Muma is another three-down linebacker who is just as effective when the ball is in the air as he is when the offense keeps it on the ground. His experience shows up on any number of plays, and he is a very aware football player. Muma can be seen sniffing out screens, working through traffic on rub and pick concepts, and reading the eyes of the quarterback in underneath zone coverage. Watch him read the eyes of the quarterback here, picking his pocket for the big play. Muma also plays very well in a crowded box, picking his way through traffic and finding a path to the ball-carrier. Among many “favorite plays” of his, this snap against New Mexico stands out. Muma sees this play develop, and from his vantage point it looks exactly like a swing screen to the running back. But before completely committing downhill, he peeks back to the quarterback to make sure the ball comes out of his hand, and once he confirms, he explodes downhill for the tackle for a loss. That showed up in the running game as well, on plays like this one against Connecticut. Muma is just a damn good football player. Weaknesses: As we saw with Lloyd and Dean, criticisms or weaknesses feel more like nitpicking. The biggest might be the level of competition he faced in college. But then you watch how he reads quarterbacks, how he plays in traffic and how the reads out his keys before exploding downhill, and you realize that those traits translate regardless of competition. He could clean up his technique against cut block attempts and use his hands better, but in all, he is a very sound player. Conclusion: As I mentioned at the outset, studying this position group was the most fun I had this entire draft cycle, and that includes two other positions I loved diving into, wide receiver and cornerback. Muma was a big part of that. Watching how he plays the game, or more accurately, how he feels the game, and you cannot turn off his film. He is one of those players that, even when you have studied enough games to get a sense of who he is, you keep watching. I am very excited to see where he lands. Comparison: Derrik Klassen of Bleacher Report went with Sean Lee, and the more I see it, the more I get it.) Lions 2022 draft: A linebacker for every round (2nd round: Chad Muma, Wyoming - If you liked former Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee in his healthy All-Pro peak, you’ll like Muma. There’s not a better finisher of tackles in this class, period. Muma showed exceptional range and quick feet in finishing second in tackles in all of FBS. But like Lee, he’s also got an opportunistic feel in coverage–two pick-sixes in 2021. Muma’s game film is littered with plays just like this. That’s the player the Lions want Alex Anzalone to be. Muma can be that guy at No. 34.) (4-12-22): https://lionswire.usatoday.com/lists/lions-2022-nfl-draft-linebacker-prospect-for-each-round/
Top 10 Inside Linebackers in the 2022 NFL Draft: Devin Lloyd and Nakobe Dean lead the bunch (3. Chad Muma, Wyoming: Laramie, Wyoming, is becoming an unlikely linebacker pipeline to the NFL. Logan Wilson was a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Former teammate Chad Muma has the potential to be selected even higher. A classic three-down player, Muma has the athletic ability, technical refinement, and football intelligence to be one of the top linebackers in the 2022 NFL Draft class. Muma has the lateral agility and handwork to comfortably beat blockers. He diagnoses and impacts the play in the run game. The Wyoming LB possesses sideline-to-sideline range. He’s a physical and technical tackler who rarely misses. With special-teams experience (and excellence) plus leadership qualities, there isn’t much that Muma doesn’t bring.) 2022 NFL Draft: Later-round backup plans for top picks (Plan B: Chad Muma, Wyoming - Muma is ready to start at middle linebacker in the NFL. He's a large, impressively athletic, do-everything second-level defender. He reads his keys in a hurry, gets to where he needs to be in reaction to them and can flip his hips very fluidly to run with targets in coverage. ) (4-1-22): https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/nfl-draft-2022-best-backup-plans-for-teams-that-miss-out-on-ahmad-gardner-breece-hall-and-more-top-prospects/
2022 NFL Draft: How the combine will impact draft boards (2. Underrated no longer, linebackers lining up for early picks - While the edge rushers, receivers and defensive backs of this class have consistently drawn praise, an underrated crop of off-ball linebackers has quietly waited in the wings. Over the weekend, as if waiting to pounce on a slow-developing screen, they attacked. While Tindall deserves top billing, his former SEC opponent Christian Harris of Alabama also had a stellar showing, as did Wisconsin’s Leo Chenal, Wyoming’s Chad Muma and Oklahoma State’s Malcolm Rodriguez.) NFL Draft prospects 2022: Biggest risers, fallers from every position after NFL Combine (Faller: Devin Lloyd, Utah (6-3, 237): Lloyd, with his 4.66 40 and 35-inch vertical, was by no means a disappointment, but he also didn't separate himself from players such as Georgia's Nakobe Dean, Alabama's Christian Harris (a 4.44 40) and Muma. Once tabbed for a high first-round pick, late is more reasonable for Lloyd.) 2022 NFL Scouting Combine: Risers and fallers following defensive line and linebacker drills (Risers - Chad Muma, Wyoming (40-yard dash: 4.63 seconds, Bench press: 27 repetitions, Vertical jump: 40 inches, Broad jump: 10-foot-9, 3-cone: 7.06 seconds, Shuttle: 4.28 seconds): Muma clearly proved he’s one heck of an explosive dude at 239 pounds. Those are nothing short of elite explosive figures that you want from a three-down linebacker. Muma isn’t lasting past the second round anymore.) Combine: Wisconsin, Montana State LBs shine on Saturday (Winners - Chad Muma, Wyoming: This isn't about his 4.63 time, which was average at best at a hefty 239 pounds. Muma's 40-inch vertical, and 10-9 broad jump along with a 7.06 three-cone drill illustrated his straight-line burst and agility. ) (3-6-22): https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2022-nfl-scouting-combine-montana-states-troy-andersen-wisconsins-leo-chenal-shine-in-linebacker-workouts/
2022 NFL Combine Stock Report - Linebacker (Up - Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming: Chad Muma displayed some spectacular athleticism at the combine. He dashed a 4.63 40 to go along with a 40-inch vertical and a 10-9 broad jump.) (3-6-22): https://walterfootball.com/combine2022stockLB.php
NFL Combine 2022: Troy Andersen, Christian Harris among 5 linebackers who improved their draft stock (Chad Muma, Wyoming: Few linebackers put together more universally well-rounded test results than Wyoming’s Chad Muma at the 2022 NFL Combine. A Senior Bowl standout, Muma came in as one of the top linebackers in the class. Now, however, he could be due for some fringe-Round 1 talk. He certainly has the athletic upside and mental makeup to warrant it. Muma came in around 6’3″, 239 pounds. He then compounded that size with stellar testing numbers. He wasn’t quite as fast as other top linebackers, but he still ran a solid 4.63 40-yard dash. And then in the explosiveness drills, Muma blew the doors off with an elite 40-inch vertical and 129-inch broad jump. Sweetening the pot further for Muma was a position-leading 27 bench reps — proving he has the torso strength to stack and shed.) 2022 NFL Combine Preview: Defensive line and linebackers to watch include Travon Walker and Chad Muma (Chad Muma, Wyoming: Muma turned in a solid week of practice at the Senior Bowl last month and the expectations are he’ll perform well at the Combine. He was listed by scouts as a 4.80-second 40 guy before the season, but I’m told Muma will run in the 4.6s during workouts. He’s also expected to put up 25 reps on the bench press.) 9 NFL Draft prospects the Lions should watch at the 2022 NFL Combine (Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming: With Nakobe Dean not set to test fully at the NFL Combine, Chad Muma could stake a claim as the second linebacker off the board. Of course, if Devin Lloyd‘s perceived value falls over the next six weeks, Muma could even be the first selection. While the NFL Combine can only change a player’s value by a finite amount, Muma could answer any outstanding questions that might be limiting him from being seen as a late first-round prospect. Alongside Muma, Christian Harris will be a player the Lions might have half an eye on at the NFL Combine. Again, good performances from a couple of these prospects viewed as second-round options would help the Lions balance their board and prevent them potentially moving up if they felt a player like Lloyd was the best in the class by a distance.) 2022 NFL combine: It’s time for the Detroit Lions to finally add a playmaker at linebacker (Chad Muma (Wyoming): Good instincts, good size, good speed -- just a pretty good player. Ranked second in stops against the run last year (52), plus 10th in stops against the pass (16). Again, pretty good stuff. This guy was flying all over the field at Wyoming, and was an excellent tackler once he got to the ball. Of course, he also did most of his damage against the bottom rungs of college football. But Muma solidified his stock with a solid week of practice at the Senior Bowl, then -- surprise, surprise -- cranked out a game-high nine tackles in the all-star matchup. Here’s betting the Lions coaches standing just a few feet away were impressed.) Combine preview: 12 linebackers the Lions should be watching (Chad Muma, Wyoming, 6-foot-2 1⁄2, 241. Suggested by Jeremy and John. Fast, explosive, and instinctual in coverage, Muma is one of my favorite prospects to outproduce his draft slot. He should test well in the measured drills and runs, but his fluidity in drills could really help his case to be selected on Day 2. He is a plug-and-play starter on defense and special teams.) 2022 Combine preview: Linebacker (5. Chad Muma, Wyoming, 6-3, 242: I wrote at the Senior Bowl that Muma had a nose for the football, and that's backed up by his 142 tackles (83 solo) and three interceptions this past season. He returned two of those interceptions for touchdowns. His physical traits aren't going to jump off the page, and there's some technique stuff he needs to continue to work on, but there's something to be said about a guy who just knows how to find the football and is around it a lot.) Lions 2022 Combine Preview: Inside Linebackers (Chad Muma, Wyoming: Muma finished his college career at Wyoming with 266 tackles, 43 pressures, 19 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and three interceptions. His past history of injuries will be a topic of conversation for personnel departments, but his vast skill set was on full display at the Senior Bowl. Building a defensive package with the top 2022 NFL Draft prospects: Linebackers (Today, I’m planting my flag on Chad Muma Hill as the best linebacker in the 2022 class, and it shouldn’t take much Wyoming film to get others on board with me. Of the four linebackers featured in this installment, Muma is the most productive (while playing at the lowest profile school), and he has a more complete skill set walking in the door than any of his competition at the position. As someone with a foot still planted in the coaching world, it’s difficult not to project any play style preferences onto my evaluations of players, but Muma is exactly what you’d hope to get out of a draft-eligible linebacker. Tracking the football, Muma plays with excellent pace and matches the tempo of the ball carrier, and he has the requisite pop in his pads to square up and make clean tackles. As a run fitter between the tackles, his most impressive trait is his “trigger” — exploding downhill off his keys and rarely taking on blocks poorly. There’s an innate art in understanding which blocks should be slipped and which should be struck, which angles call for a shoulder/forearm and which require hands, and Muma has that ability to set himself up for success on the way to the ball. In coverage, no box defender is holding a torch to the Wyoming product. He matches backs/tight ends and melts into passing windows at the proper depth and speed in zone concepts. Whether he’s the Mike linebacker or out in space, Muma has the combination of physicality and burst to be a plus starter in the NFL right away — and the best chance to broach the territory of the new era of star linebackers.) 2022 NFL Draft: Pros and cons for PFF's top five linebackers (4. CHAD MUMA, WYOMING COWBOYS (PFF Big Board Rank: 47) - PROS: The former Wyoming Cowboy is a high-cut galloping linebacker in the open field. He can cover ground in a hurry. He is a tackling machine with a nose for the ball. He had just an 8% career missed tackle rate. He's exceptional at staying square to the line of scrimmage and not overrunning plays. CONS: Muma saw a low level of competition. He didn't face a single Power Five team in 2021. He comes high into contact. Blockers and ball carriers can take him backward. He consistently struggled with cut blocks and was taken down by them regularly.) (2-8-22): https://www.pff.com/news/draft-pros-and-cons-top-5-linebackers-2022-nfl-draft-devin-lloyd-nakobe-dean
NFL draft stock report after the 2022 Senior Bowl (Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming - Stock Up: Muma cruised under the radar all week. He wasn't sensational but was rarely out of position and just made play after play after play. He's a linebacker prospect exceptionally comfortable sinking/turning to cover, and his play-recognition skills and athleticism allow him to range to the football on run plays. After an impressive showing during the week of practices, he was ubiquitous during the game on Saturday.) 20 Senior Bowl players Lions fans should watch (Linebacker - American: Damone Clark, LSU (18), National: Chad Muma, Wyoming (48): Two of my favorite players in this game, hands down. Muma has long been a favorite of mine due to his speed to the ball, intelligence, and instincts. At 6-foot-2 1⁄2, 241 pounds, he also has incredible speed for his size and could be an instant starter on the Lions' defense.) Instinctive and physical, Mumu is cut from the same cloth. In recent years, both Wilson and Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen made themselves a lot of money by proving at the Senior Bowl that their success was not just due to lesser competition in the Mountain West Conference. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound Muma is poised to do the same. ) (2-3-22): https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/sam-howell-malik-willis-others-to-watch-in-shrine-senior-bowls
PFN's 2022 Senior Bowl Practice Report: National Team (Tuesday - It was a great day for Chad Muma. Any issue with overpursuing was corrected the very next play. His read-and-react ability was top-notch as he was the first to hit the hole and stuff the run. But Muma’s ability in coverage was special. He moves incredibly well laterally and stuck with his receivers of all different sizes from tight end to running back. Wednesday - Chad Muma got suckered in a few times in coverage on Wednesday. Once, he got caught in the mud peaking at an under route that opened up a dig route behind him. On the next play, he drove back to his zone but then crept up as the back released, opening up a seam for the tight end. He looked good in the run game during 9-on-7 and team drills. Thursday - Showing off his ability in coverage, Chad Muma was terrific against underneath throws during 7-on-7s. Muma dropped effortlessly and moved incredibly well laterally. The name of his game is versatility, and him showing off in coverage was extra impressive for today’s NFL.) 2022 Senior Bowl Linebackers: Devin Lloyd and Chad Muma make for an elite pairing (Devin Lloyd and Chad Muma lead the National Team - Chad Muma is a patient LB, but he quickly identifies and attacks plays. He fills and shoots gaps with ferocity and processes quickly in coverage. Next up, Darrian Beavers, an exciting athlete that played receiver and safety in high school. At Cincinnati, he flashed his versatility and sideline-to-sideline prowess. He should quickly rise up draft boards with likely impressive testing numbers.) National Team Highlights from the the Reese's Senior Bowl National Team's day one media session (Chad Muma, Linebacker, Wyoming: The small-school standout had a solid first day of practice and was recognized as such by many media members and coaches. When asked about his first day, he said, “I learned about how quickly I can adjust and be comfortable in new settings.” The first day of practice at many all-star games is hard to grasp, but Muma got into the swing quickly. When asked about his friend Logan Wilson who will be helping lead the Bengals defense in the upcoming Super Bowl, he said, “Logan is a huge mentor and helps me daily. Defensive Players to Watch at 2022 Senior Bowl (LB Chad Muma, Team: National - Muma comes from Wyoming, where he was a tackling machine. He finished with 142 stops, an indicator of his abilities at the point of attack. The prospect was also good in coverage, intercepting three passes last season. The Lions drafted Derrick Barnes last season, who profiles as a run-stuffer. While Muma also fits this bill, he brings abilities in pass coverage that could be an even bigger benefit. 2022 Senior Bowl preview: Top prospects, biggest sleepers (Linebacker - Top prospect: Chad Muma – Wyoming: Devin Lloyd would have been under this category, but he decided to opt out of the all-star game. Drawing some similarities to his former teammate, Logan Wilson, Muma is a rangy, athletic linebacker whose elite run-game, tackling skills, and coverage instincts are high-quality NFL traits. He racked up 68 total defensive stops, three picks and 21 pressures for the Cowboys.) (2-1-22): https://draftwire.usatoday.com/lists/2022-senior-bowl-nfl-draft-top-prospects-sleepers/
2022 NFL draft: 5 linebackers to watch for the Detroit Lions (Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming: Chad Muma was one of the most productive linebackers in the nation while scoring some of PFF’s best grades overall and against the run at his position. According to the analytics site, Muma was second in the country in run stops (50) and 19th in coverage stops (18). He needs some refinement in the coverage department, but there’s a lot to like. The 6-foot-4, 242-pound linebacker had 142 tackles, eight for loss, 1.5 sacks and three interceptions. The Athletic had Muma going at Pick 51 in the site’s recent two-round mock draft. When considering the recent success of linebackers from Wyoming? Look no further than Logan Wilson. The Bengals took Wilson in the third round in the 2020 draft, which opened the door for Muma to take over on Wyoming’s defense.) 10 NFL Draft Prospects for Lions to Watch at Senior Bowl (Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming - Team: National. A converted safety, Muma is another linebacker with very good instincts. He’s a solid tackler, and can hold his own in pass coverage, as well. The backer takes good angles to the ball, and doesn’t make many mistakes. Currently, he’s projected as a fringe top-10 player at his position, with a chance to improve. He will be a captivating watch, as his performance could move him either much higher or lower on draft boards.) Top 15 2022 NFL Draft prospect performances in 2021 college football bowl games (11. LB CHAD MUMA, WYOMING COWBOYS (PFF Grade: 90.3, Opponent: KENT STATE): While a lot of career days made this list, Muma’s nine stop bowl performance was just another day at the office. His 68 stops in 2021 were the most of any FBS linebacker, and his 90.3 overall grade ranked third. Don’t expect him to last past Day 2 in the draft.) Top NFL draft prospects in every 2021-22 college football bowl game (LB CHAD MUMA, WYOMING: Muma looks to be a top-100 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, yet he will still be on the field for the Cowboys on Tuesday. He can really scoot for a 245-pounder and utterly dominated the Mountain West this season. His 59 defensive stops were the fourth most of any linebacker in the country. He’ll be at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, as well.) (12-21-21): https://www.pff.com/news/draft-top-2022-nfl-draft-prospects-every-college-football-bowl-game

2022 NFL Draft: Here's the perfect Lions draft plan, and it's all about upside (Round 3* - Wyoming LB Chad Muma: Muma is primed to ascend boards over the next few months as everyone gets to Wyoming's film. He's everywhere. Flying to outside runs, navigating through traffic to halt inside run plays, and most importantly, generating impact plays in coverage. The 6-3, 240-ish pound Muma has 129 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, three picks, and two pass breakups to date. Adding strength will be a must to defeat blocks on a regular basis in the NFL, but his coverage instincts and ball skills are exciting. And the Lions linebacker groups needs more excitement. He's the ideal type of rangy, tough coverage-based linebacker who outproduces his draft position in today's NFL.) 2022 NFL Draft Rumors: Senior Bowl roster stacks up talent (Who are some guys you expect to test much better than expected, or at least better than their buzz implies? Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming) (11-24-21): https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2022-nfl-draft-rumors-senior-bowl-roster-stacks-up-talent/
'22 draft: New QB1 among top 25 senior prospects (25) Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming (6-foot-3, 242 pounds) (Previous rank: Not ranked): Muma has the speed to cover all parts of the field for the Cowboys. In losses to San Jose State (Oct. 30) and Boise State (Nov. 12), he matched up against running backs in the flat and on wheel routes. He also showed his ability to track down runs from sideline to sideline. He fought through double-teams as an A-gap blitzer, forcing bad throws by passers not wanting to feel his wrath. Muma didn't cover star Colorado State tight end Trey McBride (No. 18 on this list) in their matchup a few weeks ago, but adjusted nicely to a tipped pass in that game for his third interception of the year.) 2022 NFL Draft Stock Report: Risers and sliders from college football in Week 11 (Chad Muma, LB, Wyoming - The Cowboys lost a tough game to conference foe Boise State, and their chances for a postseason berth took a hit. Yet, the team’s top NFL prospect, linebacker Chad Muma, was once again the best player on the field. Muma finished the contest with 14 tackles and one-half tackle for loss. It was the ninth game this season Muma registered double-digit tackles — his best tally thus far. The senior is an imposing defender playing with both instincts and intensity. He quickly locates the ball handler, flows to the action, and defeats blocks on his way to make the tackle. Muma is better moving forward than in reverse and has limitations in coverage, but he will be a solid Day 3 pick who can line up at middle or inside linebacker on Sunday.) Top 10 Inside Linebackers in the 2022 NFL Draft: Devin Lloyd and Nakobe Dean lead the bunch (3 Chad Muma, Wyoming: Laramie, Wyoming, is becoming an unlikely linebacker pipeline to the NFL. With special-teams experience (and excellence) plus leadership qualities, there isn’t much that Muma doesn’t bring.) College football prospect matchups to watch in Week 7 include Ahmad Gardner and Jake Haener (Wyoming, meanwhile, features linebacker Chad Muma on defense. Although he’s tough and gritty with excellent size, Muma’s lack of speed has raised red flags in college football scouting circles. His ability to stop Rivers (who does most of his damage running in space) or play well in coverage today could quell some of those concerns.) Detroit Lions 2022 draft watch: 8 linebackers to watch this Saturday (Chad Muma, ILB, Wyoming (Senior) (6-foot-3, 243 pounds, potential MIKE or BUCK in Lions’ scheme): I haven’t had a chance to watch a ton of Wyoming football but Muma has my attention. NFL size and really fun above-average speed, Muma finds the football, both in run defense... ... and in the passing game. I don’t have a good feel for where he might land on draft day yet, but he’s most definitely on my radar.) College Football Week 3: Team of the Week honors (LB: Chad Muma, Wyoming: A common theme among our defensive players on the Team of the Week, you didn’t have to look far to see Muma in action for Wyoming this weekend. Stymying the Ball State offense for all four quarters, Muma led the charge for the Cowboys. He led the game with 10 solo tackles, 12 total tackles, and patrolled the middle of the field well. This isn’t the first time Muma has landed on our Team of the Week. If he keeps up this level of play, we’ll certainly see him on this list some more.) College Football Week 2: Team of the Week honors (LB: Chad Muma, Wyoming: In arguably one of Saturday’s most exciting matchups, Muma was all over the field for the Cowboys. Sure, Wyoming allowed 43 points, but Muma was everywhere. He recorded 10 total tackles and had a tackle for loss. Like most of our linebackers on our Team of the Week, Muma was a constant presence around the line of scrimmage.) The PFF Preseason College Football All-Mountain West Team: Nevada's Carson Strong and Romeo Doubs star on offense (LINEBACKER - First-Team: Chad Muma, Wyoming: Muma’s coverage prowess is still a work in progress, but his run defense, blitzing and tackling are up there with the best in the country. He plays near-mistake-free ball against the run while making plays — he ranked 10th in run-defense grade and 16th in pass-rush grade among all FBS off-ball linebackers since 2019. He produced those marks while maintaining a low missed tackle rate of 7.8% (19th in the FBS). One thing to watch in 2020 is how he fares with his added weight after packing on an extra 15 pounds to get to 6-foot-3 and 242 pounds.)
