Seven potential Round 1 surprises (Lewis Cine: Several names surface in conversations with teams about the second safety off the board behind Notre Dame's Kyle Hamilton. But no one comes up more often than Cine, who is 6-foot-2 1/4, 199 pounds -- and, as one GM put it, "can absolutely f---ing run." Cine blazed the 40-yard dash in 4.37 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine, with a 36 1/2-inch vertical leap and an 11-foot-1 broad jump. He was highly productive for the Bulldogs, racking up 73 tackles and nine pass breakups on the way to third-team All-America honors and winning defensive MVP of the College Football Playoff National Championship Game. Teams say his personality isn't what you'd expect from such a physical player, but it's not seen as a problem, especially given how hard he plays. So, while some prefer Michigan's Dax Hill, Baylor's Jalen Pitre or Penn State's Jaquan Brisker, Cine has a lot of fans and his draft slot figures to reflect that.) TWENTYMAN: 10 prospects who make sense for Lions in first round (10. Safety Lewis Cine, Georgia: Cine is an aggressive and physical safety who likes to play downhill. He plays bigger than his size would indicate, and he earned a reputation as a big hitter and enforcer for Georgia's national championship defense last season. He has terrific athletic traits, running the 40 in 4.37 seconds with a 36.5-inch vertical and 133-inch broad jump at 6-foot-2 and 199 pounds. He led Georgia with nine pass breakups and 73 tackles and added an interception in 15 starts. He can play the single-high safety spot or fit nicely in a split safety look. He's a versatile safety with a nice skillset to play all over the field early in his career.) NFL draft 2022: It wouldn’t be surprising to see Detroit Lions add cornerback, safety help (Cine measures 6-foot-2, 199 pounds, with elite showings in the 40-yard dash (4.37 seconds), split drills and the broad jump. The safety was a key piece on the back of Georgia’s national championship defense. He had 73 tackles, two tackles for loss, one interception and nine pass deflections. PFF reports he missed only 11 tackles on 159 career attempts. Brisker was one of the best coverage safeties, forcing six incompletions per PFF. He had 63 tackles, six tackles for loss and two interceptions in 2021. There aren’t too many concerns with Brisker’s athleticism, either. The 6-foot-1 safety ran a 4.49-second 40-yard dash and was strong in every other metric. Hill is a familiar name from his time in Ann Arbor. The once highly-touted recruit has desirable length and enough wheels to keep up with receivers at the next level. Hill was a first-team all-Big Ten player in 2021.) Perfect Draft Fits for Lions (Lewis Cine, Georgia: A tall defender with range, the numbers check out with Cine from a speed standpoint. A 4.37 40-yard dash supplemented how fast he’s played on film. He was part of that national championship-winning defense at Georgia, playing key roles in taking away both the pass and the run. His length allows him to play well in coverage, and his speed gives him the opportunity to get up in the box and stuff the run. The safety class is very deep early in the draft, led by Notre Dame’s Kyle Hamilton. These safeties will all be available at No. 2, but the Lions should look to avoid adding a defensive back with a top-three pick. Cine should be available at No. 32 overall, and could form a really nice duo with Tracy Walker III, in a two-safety look for the Lions.) Finding NFL player comparisons for the top 32 prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft (Lewis Cine, S, Georgia (TSN: Justin Reid, Stanford (2019), NFL: Anthony Harris, Virginia (2015), RAS: Troy Apke, Penn State (2018)): Another of Georgia's standout defenders, Cine anchored the defensive backfield for the Bulldogs. He picked off a pass, defended nine passes and recorded 73 tackles as he helped Georgia win the national championship. Cine, who stands 6-2, 199 pounds, ran a 4.37 40 and posted a 36.5 inch vertical. With his future likely at free safety, The Sporting News sees him as a similar talent to Justin Reid, a 6-1, 204-pound safety who ran a 4.40 40 with a 36.5 inch vertical. Both are physical safeties who came out of college prepared to slot in almost immediately as starters.) 2022 NFL Draft Position Rankings: Safeties (2. LEWIS CINE, GEORGIA (BIG BOARD RANK: 26): Cine was the biggest riser down the stretch for the Georgia defense, and he’s one heck of a tackler — for his career, he missed only 11 tackles on 159 attempts.) 2022 NFL draft: The top 11 safeties (2
Lewis Cine, Georgia (Height: 6’2 1/4″ (93rd) Weight: 199 (20th), 40-Yard Dash: 4.37 seconds (95th), 10-Yard Split: 1.51 seconds (83rd), Vertical Jump: 37 inches (71st), Broad Jump: 133 inches (96th), Wingspan: 78 inches (81st), Arm Length: 32 1/4 inches (71st), Hand Size: 9 3/8 inches (54th)) Bio: Born in Haiti, Cine was moved to Florida at age 4, and alternated between Haiti and Florida for a time before moving to Massachusetts, where he became a defensive back at Everett High School. Cine was named Massachusetts Defensive Player of the Year in 2017, the same year the Everett won the state championship. He then moved to Cedar Hill. Texas to live with his uncle, enrolling at Trinity Christian. Again, he was a standout player, and again, his team won the state championship. The four-star recruit passed on Michigan, Florida, Penn State, and Texas in favor of Georgia, where he became a full-time starter in 2020, and a key part of the NCAA’s most dominant defense in 2021. Over three seasons with the Bulldogs, Cine played 1,008 snaps at free safety, 338 in the box, 192 in the slot, 26 at cornerback, and 10 at the defensive line. Stat to Know: In 2021, Cine had a blown or missed tackle on 10% of his attempts, which is something he’ll need to clean up at the next level. Strengths: Cine has the athleticism and tracking skills to take catches away from receivers to either seam and boundary. If he gets inside position on this play, it’s a pick, and it’s plays like this that have me excited about his NFL future when he gets more detailed coaching. He also has the easy movement skills to spy a mobile quarterback and track the ball at the same time. Cine comes down and across on plays with the hammer. If he’s on a line to your general direction, your yards-after-catch experience is not what you think it’s going to be. Alabama tight end Slade Bolden could vouch for that. Even if he’s in the deep third, your simple swing pass can be blown up once Cine gets a bead on your running back. Weaknesses: Cine’s motorhead playing style does have its drawbacks — there are too many times where he’s to intent on making the kill shot, he’ll miss the tackle altogether. This happens against the run and the pass, and it’ll be up to his NFL coaches to get that under control. Cine can also twist himself up into some missed coverages. Conclusion: Right now, Cine has the NFL attributes to be an overhang enforcer who will cause trouble on anything in front of him. Over time, and once he cleans up a few things in coverage and with his tackling, he could be a top-10 NFL safety with his athleticism, aggressiveness, and coverage potential. NFL Comparison: Jessie Bates III. Selected with the 54th pick in the 2018 draft out of Wake Forest, Bates started his NFL career as a rangy safety with a ton of tools, and became one of the league’s best and most underrated safeties both in the deep third and in the box when he put it all together. Cine can be that same style of player.) (4-19-22): https://touchdownwire.usatoday.com/lists/2022-nfl-draft-the-11-best-safeties/
2022 NFL Draft: Safety prospect superlatives (MOST VERSATILE: LEWIS CINE, GEORGIA: Over his career, Cine has been asked to wear a lot of hats in Georgia’s defense, and he’s worn them admirably time and time again. This past season, he took 155 snaps from the box, 118 from the slot and 534 deep. For his career, Cine has earned above-average grades from all three alignments. BEST TACKLER: LEWIS CINE, GEORGIA: It was a tight race between Cine and Cincinnati’s Bryan Cook for this spot, but ultimately Cine’s consistency over his career means he gets the nod. In three years, he’s never missed more than 10% of his tackle attempts over a season. For his career, he’s missed only 11 tackles on 159 attempts (6.9%).) 2022 NFL Draft preview: 5 safeties that could interest the Lions (2. Lewis Cine, Georgia (6-2, 199. 4.37 40-yard dash.): Played 39 games in three seasons at Georgia, with 15 in Year 3 for the national champs. Cine had 16 career passes defended with 10 coming in his final season. Cine played well in Georgia's win over Alabama in the championship game. Oliver Hodgkinson’s Weekly NFL Draft Scouting Notebook: Triumphant testers with translatable talent (Q: The safety class has some depth and high-end talent. But they all provide different skill sets. Jalen Pitre and Daxton Hill are more nickel safeties, Lewis Cine and Jaquan Brisker are more part of a traditional tandem. How do you see their value in the draft, and where do they get chosen? – Kevin Sayer. You’ve hit the nail on the head with the depth. I have 20 safety prospects across my latest Top 300 Big Board, with a couple more who I intend to watch that could potentially sneak into the final edition. Like the wide receiver class, there’s a “pick your poison” approach to their rankings, with individual skill sets to meet every flavor. Kyle Hamilton is not only my top-ranked safety but my No. 1 overall player. Then, the four players you asked about fall in line from 2-5. Lewis Cine is my second-ranked safety, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him come off the board midway through the first round. We talked about him on a recent PFN Premier NFL Draft Podcast. There are very few holes in his game. Daxton Hill is close behind, and I’d be willing to bet on him being selected in the 20s. All three carry a first-round grade from me. Jaquan Brisker is a fringe first/early second-round pick, and I see Jalen Pitre as a mid-to-late second-rounder. There are plenty of teams with safety needs in the NFL Draft. In my eyes, the Dallas Cowboys have long been a favorite landing spot for Pitre. Meanwhile, I could imagine Brisker biting knee caps for Dan Campbell in Detroit. While I agree that Hill and Pitre are likely viewed as nickel safeties, I think Hill in particular has a versatile athletic profile and skill set to contribute from any alignment at the next level. Taller and longer than Pitre, he’s got the speed, twitchiness, hip fluidity, and lateral agility to cover the length and breadth of the field.) Five prospects who should get Round 1 consideration (Lewis Cine, S, Georgia: Cine went to Indianapolis and put on a show -- as did essentially every Georgia Bulldog. He ran a 4.37 seconds 40-yard dash at 6-foot-2, 199 pounds, while also jumping 36.5 inches vertically and 133 inches broadly. He is a desirable combination of size, speed and skill. Cine is currently rated the No. 31 prospect overall at CBSSports.com so fans should not be surprised if he is taken inside of the first round. Cine is willing to play downhill and does a good job of breaking down his footwork in space to make a solid-form tackle. He plays with absolutely no fear. Despite a lack of ball production, the Texas native is effective at the catch point.) Top 10 Safeties in the 2022 NFL Draft: Kyle Hamilton, Daxton Hill, and Lewis Cine form the ‘Big Three’ (3. Lewis Cine, Georgia: The top three are a lot closer than they were at the beginning of the year. Lewis Cine is a plug-and-play safety in nearly every role. He is well built at 6’2″ and 199 pounds and crushed the Combine with a 4.37 40-yard dash, 36.5″ vertical, and 11’1″ broad. Cine is a stout tackler, routinely taking proper angles to ball carriers. In coverage, he quickly reads routes/play designs and possesses a beautiful speed turn.) 2022 NFL Draft: Ranking the top safeties in this year’s class (Tier 2 - Lewis Cine (Georgia), 6-foot-2, 199 pounds: Cine has become one of my favorite safety options for the Lions. Like many of the Georgia defenders in this draft, he can fly across the field and tested extremely well at the combine. He is a versatile safety that can play all over the field, but is at his best in the box and is one of the most sure-tackling defenders in the country. In man-coverage, Cine is still a work in progress, but he does display elite instincts, especially when he sees the play developing in front of him. I see Cine likely going in the 20-40 range, so he might not be there by the time the Lions are picking with their second first-round pick, but if he’s still available, and they’re looking to add on defense, then there aren’t many better options out there. Round grade: 1st-2nd round.) (3-31-22): https://www.prideofdetroit.com/platform/amp/2022/3/31/22999784/2022-nfl-draft-ranking-the-top-safeties-in-this-years-class

Georgia Pro Day 2022: Date, prospects, rumors, and more (Lewis Cine, S: Lewis Cine will be one of the top safeties drafted this year. He is exceptional at reading routes and breaking to the ball in coverage. Additionally, he is a sound tackler with a nose for the ball. Cine turned head at the Combine with a 4.37 40-yard dash, 36.5-inch vertical, and over 11″ broad. 2022 NFL Draft Stock - Post-Combine (Up - Lewis Cine, S, Georgia: Georgia defensive tackle Jordan Davis and defensive end Travon Walker helped themselves with excellent combine performances, but they weren't the only ones, as Cine had an amazing few days in Indianapolis. 10 players who impressed at 2022 NFL Scouting Combine (8. S Lewis Cine, Georgia: Cine (6-2, 199) put himself squarely in the conversation as one of the best safeties in this class and a player who could hear his name called in the first round of next month's draft. He blazed the 40 in 4.37 seconds (fifth best among safeties) and was the top performer in the broad jump (11'1"). He tied for fifth in the vertical (36.5 inches). Cine blazed a 4.37-second 40-yard dash, 36.5-inch vertical, and 11-foot-1 broad jump to put his stamp as the most explosive safety at the Combine. 2022 NFL Combine results: 8 standouts from the safety group (Did Lewis Cine jump Hamilton for the top safety spot? Lewis Cine (Georgia, 6-foot-2 1⁄4, 199) ran an impressive 4.37 40-yard dash and several people started speculating how high his stock could rise. We knew Cine was fast, and yes he exceed expectations, but this would be a pretty unexpected rise to see him jump up to the top safety spot. Yes, analysts—even the best ones—don’t always have a read on every player's stock for every team, but generally, they are connected enough to see if a player is getting first-round speculation. Among top draft analysts like Dane Brugler (The Athletic), Daniel Jeremiah (NFL), Lance Zierlein (NFL), and the folks over at the Draft Network, none of them had Cine in their top-50, yet all of them had Hamilton in the top-five. It would be unprecedented to see a player almost universally rated that high fall, while at the same time seeing another rise that significantly and become the top option. Did Cine raise his stock? Certainly. Did Cine pass Hamilton? That’s a hard no for me.) (3-7-22): https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2022/3/7/22964449/2022-nfl-combine-results-8-standouts-from-the-safety-group
2022 NFL combine winners and losers: Ridder, Dawgs rise (Winners - Lewis Cine, S, Georgia: Leading off the winners with a Georgia Bulldog -- settle in, because he will not be the last -- should come as no surprise. The national champions dominated the final two nights on the field. Cine tested off the charts with a 4.37 second 40-yard dash, 36.5 inch vertical jump and 133 inch broad jump. NFL Draft prospects 2022: Biggest risers, fallers from every position after NFL Combine (Riser: Lewis Cine, Georgia (6-2, 199 pounds): It's almost like Georgia won it all because of a dominant defense on every level (retro spoiler alert: it did). A 4.37 40 and 36.5 stamped Cine's speed and athleticism after he showed off his (Kirby) smarts at the podium and in interviews. NFL draft: Winners and losers from the 2022 NFL scouting combine (Georgia S Lewis Cine: Cine might have helped himself as much as any Bulldog at the combine — including Davis. With his good length (6-foot-2, 199 pounds, 32 1/4-inch arms), assertive and urgent tape, and excellent testing (4.37 40, 11-foot-1 broad jump), Cine might have entered the Round 1 discussion.) Combine preview: 12 safeties the Lions should be watching (Lewis Cine, Georgia, 6-foot-1, 200 - Suggested by Mike. As with most Georgia defenders, they can be a difficult evaluation at times because of the talent surrounding them. Cine is just a tick below the three safeties above him on this list, mainly because he’s not as smooth in his movements and that will limit his positional range. That being said, Cine would be a plug-and-play starter for the Lions’ split zone scheme, as he has shown countless technical skills that fit the scheme. He may be limited in how many things he can do (he won’t be able to line up at corner like Will Harris), but he’ll thrive at the traditional safety spot.) 2022 NFL combine: Could safety Kyle Hamilton or the strong cornerback class entice the Detroit Lions? (S Lewis Cine (Georgia): Lewis Cine was rock-solid across three years for the Bulldogs. The 6-foot-1 safety hit new levels down the stretch for the national champs. Cine had 73 tackles, two for loss, one interception and nine pass deflections. Building a defensive package with the top 2022 NFL Draft prospects: Defensive backs (Lewis Cine is a personal favorite, in production and play style. There’s a dearth of enforcer-type safeties in football, and while Cine may not look the part, his contact stops all forward progress from ball carriers. He can extend his ability as a tackler and coverage defender to the perimeter or deep down the field, but in this exercise, he’s ideally cast as a “dime backer,” spending the majority of his time in the box. Across 124 career run-defense snaps in the box, he missed only one tackle and received a positive grade on 10% of those snaps. His tackling abilities extend beyond the run game, with no misses in coverage on his 194 snaps as a box defender. If Cine needed to push out into the slot, he can handle the job, recording a 79.2 passer rating allowed and no touchdowns. He flies around the field with reckless abandon and has enough of a refined skill set to be utilized in whatever role is necessary, from the box out to the sidelines.) 2022 Combine preview: Safety (3. Lewis Cine, Georgia, 6-1, 200: Cine is an aggressive and physical safety, who likes to play downhill. He plays bigger than his size would indicate and earned a reputation as a big hitter and enforcer for Georgia's talented defense last season. He'll improve as a cover man, but he fits right away in a split safety defense where he can play down more.) Lions 2022 Combine Preview: Safeties (Lewis Cine, Georgia: Cine played as a deep safety a majority of the time while at Georgia. He has no problem coming up and supporting the run, though. 2022 NFL draft: 5 safeties to watch for the Detroit Lions (Lewis Cine, S, Georgia: Lewis Cine is one name to track for late in the first or early in the second round. Cine was good across three seasons at Georgia. He took his game to new levels last year for the national champions. The 6-foot-1 junior had 73 tackles, two for loss and one interception with nine pass deflections. Cine officially declared for the draft last month. 2022 NFL Draft: Pros and cons for PFF's top five safeties (2. LEWIS CINE, GEORGIA BULLDOGS (PFF Big Board Rank: 27): PROS: The national champion is so good at reading route stems and anticipating breaks. He's a well-put-together safety and an outstanding tackler. He has some gorgeous speed turns from deep safety and is quick to relocate receivers in route. CONS: He has adequate speed, but there's nothing special about his range or closing speed. Cine gets caught flat-footed and tall in space, which limits his ability to break on passes. He has limited pure-man coverage skills — much better when he has a cushion.) (2-8-22): https://www.pff.com/news/draft-pros-and-cons-top-5-safeties-2022-nfl-draft-kyle-hamilton-lewis-cine
2022 NFL Draft Stock - Pre-All-Star Games II (Up - Lewis Cine, S, Georgia: Cine was a valuable defender for the Bulldogs in 2021, locking down the deep middle of the field. He totaled 73 tackles, an interception and nine passes batted on the year. As a sophomore in 2020, Cine had 52 tackles and three passes broken up. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder has a good skill set with upside, and some sources think he could be a nice value on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft.) Teams See Safety Talent on Day 2 of 2022 NFL Draft (NFL team sources say there are some worthy prospects for the second day of the 2022 NFL Draft. Prospects who were named as quality second- or third-round picks were Michigan's Daxton Hill, Georgia's Lewis Cine, Penn State's Jaquan Brisker and Cincinnati's Bryan Cook. Cine stepped up with a strong junior year to help Georgia win the National Championship. While the 2022 NFL Draft may not have many safeties selected on the opening night of the 2022 NFL Draft, team sources believe these prospects could form a solid ground group of safeties for Day 2.) 2022 NFL Draft Position Rankings: Safeties (2. LEWIS CINE, GEORGIA (BIG BOARD RANK: 28): Cine was the biggest riser down the stretch for the Georgia defense, and he’s one heck of a tackler — for his career, he missed only 11 tackles on 159 attempts.) Alabama vs. Georgia: Top 20 players in the 2021-2022 College Football National Championship (12. Lewis Cine, S, Georgia: Playing a violent game, Lewis Cine makes offenses remember him with ferocious hits and keen instincts. Cine plays downhill and plays it well. He also possesses great ball skills and has a knack for finding the football. Also going in his favor is the fact that he wants revenge. It was arguably his worst performance of the season the last time these two teams met.) 10 prospects to watch in college football national championship game (9. Safety Lewis Cine, Georgia: Cine (6-1, 200) is second on the Bulldogs in tackles through 14 games with 66 total tackles (37 solo). He's also tied for the team lead with eight pass breakups and played in 82 percent of possible defensive snaps this season. With Tracy Walker set to become a free agent this offseason, the Lions might be in line to add to that position via free agency and the draft.) Detroit Lions 2022 draft watch: 12 prospects to watch this Saturday (Lewis Cine, FS, Georgia (Junior) (6-foot-1, 200 pounds): A rangy athlete who plays free safety for the Bulldogs, Cine has found more success playing underneath coverage in a two-safety system. He’s impactful in stopping the run but is still developing his coverage skill set. He is the type of player that would excel in a role similar to the one Will Harris holds with the Lions. Keep an eye on Cine drifting over the slot and trying to match up with Robinson, which would be a great test of his skills.) College Football Week 5: Treylon Burks, George Karlaftis to have big days? (We forgot to throw Georgia safety Lewis Cine into the conversation. There are factions of the scouting community who love Cine and stamp him as a second-round prospect. The junior measures well, coming in over 6-feet tall. However, he has too many suspect plays in coverage. The ability to help his corners slow down Burks is huge for Cine.) 2022 NFL Draft: Stingley's SEC's best; Bama, UGA loaded (Lewis Cine is a homegrown product that added some weight this offseason and looks like an NFL safety.) College Football Week 1: Team of the Week honors (S: Lewis Cine, Georgia: Lewis Cine and the Bulldogs’ defense came to play in a big way on Saturday night. Cine led all Georgia tacklers with 9 total stops and was dominant in the passing game. He disguised coverages well and helped confuse DJ Uiagalelei when he attempted to move from one read to the next. With Cine playing at this level, the sky is the limit for Georgia in 2021.) Top safeties in the 2022 NFL Draft include Kyle Hamilton, Brandon Joseph (7. Lewis Cine, Georgia: Georgia’s junior defensive back Lewis Cine may be the hardest hitter of any of the top safeties in the 2022 NFL Draft. He has displayed unparalleled physicality throughout his short career with the Bulldogs, screaming downhill to deliver earth-shattering collisions regularly. Unfortunately for Cine, one such collision resulted in his ejection against Florida, becoming the hallmark of his college career. Yet, that one example shouldn’t be held up as his defining moment. From an early viewing, his tape is littered with clean and brutal examples of his ability to impact the game. While Cine has game-changing speed and physicality, he will need to elevate his prowess as a playmaker in the passing game. If he can achieve that this year, Cine should fly up draft boards quicker than he flies around the secondary.)
