2022 NFL Draft LB Damone Clark

Scouting Reports:

Articles:

NFL Draft sleepers: 11 potential steals in 2022 include Sam Howell, Brian Robinson (Linebacker: Damone Clark, LSU - Clark is in a similar boat to Justyn Ross. The LSU product had spine surgery during the offseason and will miss his rookie year as a result. That has greatly impacted his draft stock, but Clark should still draw plenty of attention from NFL teams.  Clark was trending toward being a Day 2 pick before his injury. Now, he will likely last into Day 3 despite posting 135 tackles, 5.5 sacks and an interception for the Tigers last season. Clark has good size at 6-3, 245 pounds and if he can recover well from this surgery, he could be a starter.  Like Ross, taking Clark would be a risk, but it could pay off for a team that is willing — or able — to take a chance.) The 2022 All-Juice Team: Terez Paylor's kind of guys in the NFL draft (LB Damone Clark:  We are cheating a bit here, as Clark was a likely Round 2 selection prior to undergoing spinal surgery; his draft whereabouts are unknown, but his rookie year could be wiped out. Still, there is a terrific football player we’d be willing to wait for here. LSU people raved about Clark’s burning desire and work ethic — earning the cherished No. 18 jersey there as a result — and he’s a terrific athlete who really flourished once the Tigers changed coordinators in 2021. Clark, who followed Devin White around like a puppy as a freshman, is a tenacious ball hunter and a mudder who doesn’t mind mixing it up.) (4-19-22):  https://sports.yahoo.com/the-2022-all-juice-team-terez-paylors-kind-of-guys-in-the-nfl-draft-140035606.html

Lions draft picks: Ranking 5 best combinations for Detroit's two Round 1 selections (Combination 2 - No. 2: Malik Willis, QB, Liberty.  No. 32: Damone Clark, LB, LSU.  This might be jumping the gun a bit for Detroit, but if the Lions don't want to wait until 2023 for a QB, Malik Willis would be a good option. He's the type of quarterback who has a lot of potential to be electric, but he'd inevitably go through growing pains early. It would be hard to stomach taking any quarterback at two this year, but Willis would be the least painful reach.  Damone Clark at 32 is the real prize for the Lions. Their top two tacklers last year were safeties, meaning teams were regularly at the back end of the defense. Clark had 135 tackles last year for the Tigers, and he would be a good option to keep Jarrad Davis company on the second level.) (4-14-22):  https://www.sportingnews.com/au/nfl/news/lions-draft-picks-ranking-5-combinations-detroit-round-1/acyxxrteujobzjszgqt33ymk

2022 NFL Draft: Ranking the top off-ball linebackers in this year’s class (Tier 3 - Damone Clark (LSU), 6-foot-2 1⁄2, 239 pounds:  Clark really broke out in 2021 as one of the most productive linebackers in college football. He was awarded Second Team All-American and First Team All-SEC honors after leading the SEC in tackles with 135 tackles in 12 games.  He is yet another linebacker on this list that has plus sideline-to-sideline speed/range and thrives in pursuit. His instincts can be lacking at times and he is prone to taking on poor angles. If healthy, Clark would have been a Day 2 pick easy, but it was revealed during the NFL Combine that he was to undergo spinal fusion surgery to repair a herniated disc. That means he will likely miss the entire 2022 season, but is expected to make a full recovery by 2023.  Round grade: 3rd round (will likely fall due to injury)) (4-14-22):  https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2022/4/14/23020265/2022-nfl-draft-ranking-the-top-off-ball-linebackers-in-this-years-class

2022 NFL draft: The top 11 linebackers (6.  Damone Clark, LSU (Height: 6’3″ (77th) Weight: 239 (61st), 40-Yard Dash: 4.57 seconds (80th), Vertical Jump: 37 inches (76th), Broad Jump: 10’7″ (94th), 3-Cone Drill: 7.12 seconds (46th)):  Bio: Damone Clark was born in New Orleans and lived there until 2005, when his family was displaced by Hurricane Katrina. He moved to Baton Rouge, and played high school football at Southern University Laboratory School. He was graded as a four-star recruit coming out of high school, and had a number of scholarship offers on his table including from schools as Miami, Texas, Texas A&M, Michigan and Mississippi State.  But he stayed in Louisiana, signing to play for LSU in December of 2017.  He played in 12 games as a true freshman for the Tigers in 2018, mostly on special teams as he backed up Devin White. In 2019, Clark carved out an increased role on LSU’s national championship team, as he played in all 15 games with three starts. He tallied 49 tackles and 3.5 sacks that season.  Clark was given the honor of wearing #18 as a junior, a number reserved for the LSU player who has a record of success on and off the field, as well as demonstrating a “selfless attitude:”  It’s an Honor to be 18.  As a junior in 2020, Clark recorded 63 tackles. He doubled that production in his final year in school, tallying 135 tackles — including 15 for a loss — and 5.5 sacks this past season.  Stat to Know: Clark had eight double-digit tackle games this past season, including a 19-tackle performance against Mississippi.  Strengths: If I need to show the kids I coach what effort looks like on the field, I am putting together a cutup reel of Clark’s senior season and getting out of the way. Clark does not quit and the motor is always running hot. He closed out LSU’s win over Texas A&M this past season with back-to-back effort sacks on the final two plays of the game.  That was the first moment where I felt like I had seen everything necessary. But I kept watching.  LSU used him in a number of different roles, and late in the year you were as likely to see him on the edge as you were in a traditional off-ball alignment. He showed good burst and explosiveness off the edge, but also has the ability to string plays out on the outside or set the edge and turn running backs towards his help.  My favorite play of his is perhaps this snap against Alabama.  On this 3rd and 9 play, Clark aligns in the A-Gap and shows pre-snap pressure. But it looks like the Tigers are running a read/blitz concept, because as the center opens in his direction Clark pops out and tracks the screen play, and he flows to John Metchie III for the stop to force a punt.  He is a physical player who can take on lead blockers and win, getting to the ball behind them for the tackle. That still works in the NFL right?  Weaknesses: Perhaps the biggest weakness is his availability. Clark’s medical examinations at the Combine revealed a herniated disk, and he underwent spinal fusion surgery to repair the condition.  Which also illuminates this fact. Clark did this at the Combine with a HERNIATED DISK.  Damone Clark is a LB prospect in the 2022 draft class. He scored an unofficial 9.74 RAS at the Combine out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 57 out of 2188 LB from 1987 to 2022.   Clark could be more consistent when tasked with underneath zone coverage, and there are moments when he was a bit too detached from the nearest threat. That is hopefully something he can clean up at the next level.  Conclusion: Far be it for me to question someone who turned in that kind of Combine performance with, as we mentioned, a herniated disk. I am a huge fan of Clark’s game. Are there things he needs to refine? Yes. But I think a smart general manager and/or defensive coordinator are going to take advantage of a medical redshirt year and be damn glad they did when he’s flourishing in 2023.  Comparison: This is more a scheme/role comparison than a true one-to-one player comparison, but Clark reminds me of later-stage Dont’a Hightower. In recent years Bill Belichick turned Hightower into more of a presence on the edge, and that is how LSU started to use him last season. That edge/SAM kind of role could be his best fit in the NFL.) 2022 NFL Draft: Gauging the level of concern for notable injured prospects (LB DAMONE CLARK, LSU TIGERS - Injury: Spinal fusion to repair herniated disk, out for the 2022 season.  An MRI at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine revealed a herniated disk in Damone Clark’s back, resulting in a rather serious spinal fusion surgery. The 6-foot-2, 239-pound off-ball linebacker was seemingly a riser at the combine before the injury news. He checked in with a big 78.5-inch wingspan and turned in a 4.57-second 40-yard dash, 37-inch vertical and 127-inch broad jump.  Clark went from a possible second-round prospect to a likely Day 3 pick because of this injury, which is justified — especially considering the depth at the position in this class. Clark was one of the best tacklers in the country last season, with just eight misses on 131 attempts. He’s also a smart player and offers value as a blitzer. The LSU product is worth taking a swing on during Day 3, although teams should have tempered expectations given how serious this injury is.) Lions, DB coach Aubrey Pleasant check out the LSU pro day workout (Linebacker Damone Clark, until recently a popular Day 2 projection for the Lions, did not work out. Clark will miss all of 2022 after undergoing spinal fusion surgery. The Lions coached Clark at the Senior Bowl and the team’s LB coach, LSU grad Kelvin Sheppard, was his position coach at LSU in 2020.) LSU 2022 NFL Draft Scouting Reports include Derek Stingley Jr., Ed Ingram, Cade York, and Neil Farrell Jr. (Damone Clark, LB - Positives: Athletic linebacker who flashes playmaking ability. Displays outstanding range, quickly gets out to the sidelines, and cuts off the corners from ball handlers. Fluid moving laterally in pursuit, easily changes direction, and uses his hands to protect himself and slide off blocks. Breaks down well, shows a tremendous closing burst, and plays to his 40 time. Wraps up tackling.  Negatives: Inconsistent if not questionable instincts. Inefficient and does not always take proper angles to the action. Not a stout tackler and has running backs picking up yardage off initial contact.  Analysis: Clark has been a legitimate linebacker prospect since his sophomore season of 2018 and has the athleticism to start at the next level. That being the case, his instincts are a concern for me and may limit the types of schemes he will be productive in.) LSU Pro Day 2022: Date, prospects, rumors, and more (Damone Clark, LB:  Unsurprisingly, LSU linebacker Damone Clark hovered around the top 10 linebackers in most drills he took part in at the NFL Combine. He’s a stellar athlete that showcases speed and lateral agility in his ability to patrol sideline to sideline.  Meanwhile, he has the explosion to be a dangerous downhill threat. As a result, expect him to test well once again at the LSU Pro Day. Clark should be a top-100 player in April if he continues to impress.) (4-6-22):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/lsu-pro-day-2022-date-prospects-rumors-more/

2022 NFL Draft Stock - Post-Combine III (Down - Damone Clark, LB, LSU:  Clark was a consensus second-round pick with an outside chance of sneaking into Round 1 until it was discovered in the combine medical exam that he would need neck surgery. The hernia procedure will probably cost Clark his rookie season, but he is expected to make a full recovery. This really hurts Clark and will probably send him significantly lower in the 2022 NFL Draft. The third round is probably the earliest he could come off the board, and he could slide well into Day 3.  Clark, however, could end up being a steal because he was one of the best linebackers in the 2022 NFL Draft and a tackling machine at LSU. Still, he has an unfortunate stock down late in the process even after a good week at the Senior Bowl and an excellent combine workout.) 2022 NFL Scouting Combine Winners and Losers by the Numbers: Defensive Positions (Potential LB1 Nakobe Dean didn’t run at the combine, but top prospects Devin Lloyd, Christian Harris and Damone Clark all posted 85th or better percentiles for their WAR projections.) Is Damone Clark's draft stock on the rise after impressive combine showing? (3-7-22):  https://lsutigerswire.usatoday.com/2022/03/07/lsu-football-2022-nfl-draft-damone-clark-scouting-combine/

NFL draft: Winners and losers from the 2022 NFL scouting combine (Winners - LSU LB Damone Clark:  It's been a good few weeks for Clark, who had a nice Senior Bowl followed by a productive combine. He showed up with a good combination of size (6-foot-2 1/2, 239 pounds) and testing (4.57 40, 36 1/2-inch vertical, 10-foot-7 broad jump). Clark also impressed in drills, looking stronger in the pass-coverage element than some might have expected, and was good in interviews, too, we're told. He's possibly in the top-50 range.) (3-7-22):   https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-draft-winners-and-losers-from-the-2022-nfl-scouting-combine-174040022.html

10 2022 NFL Draft Crushes (Damone Clark, LB, LSU:  Clark had a very good combine, running the 40 in 4.57 seconds. He measured up well in other drills, and his size is exactly where teams want it to be. As a prospect at LSU, he was a physical run stopper. This is exactly what Detroit needs.  The Lions took a linebacker in last year’s draft, scooping up Purdue’s Derrick Barnes in the fourth round. However, Barnes still has a ways to go when it comes to pass coverage, and Clark may be ahead of the curve in that department.  By taking another young linebacker, the Lions could work toward building a solid, young core at the position. For a team that wants to become known for its defense, this would be a very good start.) 2022 NFL Combine Stock Report - Linebacker (Up - Damone Clark, LB, LSU:  Damone Clark was one of the better performers at the drills among players at his position. Additionally, he posted some terrific workout numbers. He ran a 4.57 40 at 240 pounds. He also recorded a 10-7 broad jump and a 36.5-inch vertical.) (3-6-22):   https://walterfootball.com/combine2022stockLB.php

Combine Day 3 combine winners, losers (WINNERS - Damone Clark:  There are several talented SEC linebackers in his draft class, and I gave strong consideration to including Alabama's Christian Harris in this space. But Harris' status as a top-50 prospect was well-established coming into the event, while Clark really helped himself with a nice overall effort. He measured 6-foot-2 1/2 and weighed 239 pounds and was solid in his tests (4.57 40-yard dash, 36 1/2-inch vertical, 10-foot-7 broad jump). One of the nation's leading tacklers in 2021, Clark executed each drill without an issue, consistently playing under control and in balance. He proved quick enough to cover ground in space and was reliable converting interceptions at the end of each rep. Clark showed everything a team could want from a leader in the middle of the defense.) Combine preview: 12 linebackers the Lions should be watching (Damone Clark, LSU, 6-foot-2 1⁄2, 240. Suggested by Ryan.  Clark started at the MIKE on the Lions roster at the Senior Bowl and has a connection to Lions’ outside linebacker coach Kelvin Sheppard, who was on LSU’s staff in 2020. Make no mistake though, if the Lions draft Clark, it won’t be because of his connections, he has very much earned consideration as one of the best linebackers in this class. Highly intelligent, things finally clicked for him in 2021 when he stopped “overthinking” and played more instinctually. He is very athletic for his size and explodes to the ball with exceptional acceleration and speed.) Marc Ross: Most underrated prospects at 2022 NFL Scouting Combine (2-28-22):   https://www.nfl.com/videos/marc-ross-highlights-most-underrated-prospects-at-2022-nfl-scouting-combine

2022 Combine preview: Linebacker (4. Damone Clark, LSU, 6-3, 240:  Clark was a highly productive linebacker for the Tigers with a good combination of size, speed and toughness. He recorded 135 tackles (77 solo) in 12 games this past season, with 5.5 sacks and an interception mixed in there as well. He could be a key contributor on special teams early on and another player with a high ceiling.) (2-24-22):    https://www.detroitlions.com/news/2022-combine-preview-linebacker-dean-lloyd-walker

Biggest winners from the 2022 Senior Bowl (LB Damone Clark, LSU:  Utah’s Devin Lloyd and Georgia’s Nakobe Dean are the consensus top linebackers and behind them are a few candidates vying for the spot. Clark made a strong case to be LB3. Leading the pack in run stops during practices, Clark was explosive when attacking downhill. He was just as effective blitzing, especially in a one-on-one rep against one of the top pass-protecting running backs in Alabama’s Brian Robinson, as Clark shrugged him off with ease. Another thing going for Clark is that he should test out well athletically at the Combine.) (2-7-22):   https://draftwire.usatoday.com/lists/2022-senior-bowl-nfl-draft-malik-willis-christian-watson/

NFL draft: QB Malik Willis headlines winners and losers from the 2022 Senior Bowl (LSU LB Damone Clark:  We polled a few evaluators for players who stood out the most, and Clark’s name came up twice. He’s a tremendous athlete who should shine in combine testing, but his on-field performance this week was strong to very strong.  Clark led the way in run stops during practices, showed better-than-expected coverage ability and was effective as a blitzer. He might be LB3 in this class and a possible top-40 overall selection.  Another off-the-ball linebacker who quietly impressed: Oklahoma’s Brian Asamoah. He's undersized but polished, competitive and well-rounded.) (2-5-22):   https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-draft-qb-malik-willis-headlines-winners-and-losers-from-the-2022-senior-bowl-223734016.html

20 Senior Bowl players Lions fans should watch (Linebacker - American: Damone Clark, LSU (18), National: Chad Muma, Wyoming (48):  Two of my favorite players in this game, hands down.  Clark is highly intelligent and things really came into focus for him as a senior. At 6-foot-2 1⁄2, 240 pounds, he can run like the wind, drop into coverage, and blitz with efficiency. It also doesn’t hurt that Lions outside linebacker coach Kelvin Sheppard was his position coach at LSU before joining the Lions in 2020.) 2022 Senior Bowl Rumors: Friday (That same director said LSU linebacker Damone Clark was their highest-graded linebacker. Georgia's Nakobe Dean and Utah's Devin Lloyd have received more media hype, but some teams like Clark a lot more than those two and see him as the best linebacker for the 2022 NFL Draft. Other teams could have the order switched, but Clark has helped himself with his good week at the Senior Bowl) (2-4-22):   https://walterfootball.com/nflhotpress/article/Senior-Bowl-2022-Rumors-Friday

Lions LB coach Kelvin Sheppard on LSU's Damone Clark: 'That's like my little brother' (2-4-22):   https://lionswire.usatoday.com/2022/02/04/lions-lb-coach-kelvin-sheppard-lsu-tigers-damone-clark-little-brother-senior-bowl-coverage/

12 Senior Bowl players who stood out as potential Lions draft picks during the week of practices (Damone Clark, LB, LSU:  Clark not only looked impressive in the passing defense drills, but he offers a ready-made connection with Detroit. Lions LB coach Kelvin Sheppard called the well-built Clark “like my little brother” after reuniting with him in Mobile. Sheppard coached the LBs at LSU before joining the Lions staff last year. Clark is certainly in play at the top of the third round.) (2-4-22):   https://lionswire.usatoday.com/lists/2022-nfl-draft-senior-bowl-detroit-lions-potential-draft-prospects-practice/

LSU’s ‘high-ceiling linebacker’ Damone Clark looks to follow Devin White, Patrick Queen into NFL (2-3-22):   https://www.profootballnetwork.com/high-ceiling-linebacker-lsu-damone-clark-looks-to-follow-devin-white-patrick-queen-into-nfl/

PFN's 2022 Senior Bowl Practice Report: American Team (Tuesday - Run fits were the name of the game for Damone Clark on Day 1. He was great during the 9-on-7 portion of practice. Despite an obvious advantage for the defense, Clark was the first to react and first to the ball on more than one occasion.  Wednesday - No practice report is available from Day 2.  Thursday - Perhaps the best aspect of his game, Damone Clark was solid when rushing the passer up the middle. The big man routinely blew up block attempts from RBs and was solid coming downhill in the run game. Clark read the run fits beautifully and filled the holes with speed and grace. Making matters even better, Clark had really the only flash of brilliance in 1-on-1s from the linebackers.) (2-3-22):   https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2022-senior-bowl-practice-report-american-team/

2022 Senior Bowl Practice Report - American (LSU linebacker Damone Clark has not set the Senior Bowl on fire, but on Wednesday, he did have some nice reps in the pass-coverage one-on-ones. Clark was running with receivers and not getting burned. Keeping close coverage and not allowing separation is what teams want to see from Clark, and he showed good three-down starter ability with his cover skills on Wednesday.) (2-2-22):   https://walterfootball.com/seniorbowl2022practice4.php

Senior Bowl 2022 Rumors Tuesday (A number of NFL team sources told WalterFootball.com that two players who evaluators are excited to see are LSU linebacker Damone Clark and Cincinnati wide receiver Alec Pierce. "I think Clark and Pierce could make themselves some money this week," said an AFC director of player personnel. "Pierce is long and can run. He has some stiffness but so do a lot of good pros. Teams like Clark more than the media has caught on. He's big, fast, and productive, so I could see him becoming a riser from these practices.") (2-2-22):   https://walterfootball.com/nflhotpress/article/Senior-Bowl-2022-Rumors-Tuesday

2022 Senior Bowl Linebackers: Devin Lloyd and Chad Muma make for an elite pairing (LSU’s Damone Clark is another linebacker who could skyrocket up draft boards with a solid showing at the Senior Bowl. Clark can bite on run plays at times, but he is rangy and can win engagements against blockers.) (2-1-22):   https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2022-senior-bowl-linebackers/

A closer look at the Lions' Senior Bowl roster: Defense (Clark and Walker are bigger more physical presences at the position.) (1-26-22):    https://www.detroitlions.com/news/a-closer-look-at-the-lions-senior-bowl-roster-defense-wyatt-paschal-domann

Breaking down the Detroit Lions’ Senior Bowl roster on defense (Clark moves smoother and faster than most 6-foot-3, 245-pound linebackers. He is highly intelligent, but for most of his career he was scared to make a mistake, and his game suffered, leaving him a step behind. This year a light bulb clicked on, he began to trust his instincts, and the world opened up for him. Not only did he step up as LSU’s MIKE, but by the end of the season, he expanded his responsibilities to EDGE duties, where his ability to blitz off the edge was a defensive weapon. He can cover and diagnose plays with the best of them, but he is too stiff in his hips and needs to learn how to shed blockers faster.) (1-24-21):   https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2022/1/24/22891679/breaking-down-detroit-lions-senior-bowl-roster-defense

Ian Cummings’ 2022 NFL Draft Risers: Boye Mafe, Logan Hall leaping toward the top 50 (Damone Clark, LB, LSU:  There are a lot of linebackers moving up the board for me. Brian Asamoah is in my top 75 now after opening at 124. Channing Tindall is now safely within the top 100 after starting beyond the top 150. And Quay Walker and Chad Muma now find themselves knocking on the top 50. But the biggest 2022 NFL Draft riser at linebacker on my board is LSU’s Damone Clark, who opened outside the top 300 and now sits at 89th overall.  Clark put together a fantastic final season for the Tigers, amassing 135 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, an interception, 3 pass deflections, and 2 forced fumbles in 12 games. His production speaks for itself, but Clark’s talent goes beyond the stats. He’s a burly 6’3″, 240-pound linebacker with reported 4.5 speed. Additionally, he has the sideline-to-sideline range and the strength to fill gaps in run defense. With more development, he can be an impact player at the next level.) (1-22-22):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/ian-cummings-2022-nfl-draft-risers-boye-mafe-logan-hall-leaping-toward-top-50/

Top NFL draft prospects in every 2021-22 college football bowl game (LB DAMONE CLARK, LSU:  LSU has seen a prospect exodus, leaving Clark as likely the team's top prospect still playing in the bowl. He’s a physical presence at 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds and saw a distinct jump in performance this season. He went from a 51.4 grade in 2020 to a 68.6 mark this season.) 2022 NFL Draft: Top 10 Senior Bowl prospects to watch in non-playoff bowl games (7. Damone Clark, LB, LSU (6-3, 240)* - Clark ranks among the nation's leaders in tackles, but he'll need to use all his speed and experience to track down Kansas State's talented sophomore running back Deuce Vaughn. Given the league's need for speed, intelligence and aggressiveness at linebacker, defensive coordinators will appreciate Clark's skill set in the middle of their lineup. Tigers guard Ed Ingram will be looking to impress general managers with his strength and nimble footwork against the Wildcats, as well as in Mobile, to earn a Day 2 (Rounds 2-3) call.) Detroit Lions 2022 draft watch: 17 top-100 prospects will battle today (LB Damone Clark:  Clark has flown a bit under the radar this season because his tape wasn't great in previous seasons. But in 2021, the light came on and he is developing into a terrific prospect. Highly intelligent, Clark is an off-the-ball MIKE who can blitz, stop the run, and carry slot receivers in zone and man coverage. There will be times in this game where Clark will be matched up with all three Aggies, and if he shows the ability to hang with all three his stock will continue to rise up draft boards.) 2022 NFL Draft Stock - Week 12 (Up - Damone Clark, LB, LSU:  As we reported last week in the Hot Press, some teams are projecting Clark to be a first-round pick and think he could rise into being a high first-rounder during the leadup to the 2022 NFL draft.  "He's long, fast, athletic, and that doesn't last long in the draft," said a NFC director of player personnel. "He's similar to Micah Parsons movement wise, but Parsons had a little more freakish juice and was more explosive, but not by a ton. Clark has better instincts than Parsons and the production reflects that. I think Clark will rise into a mid- to high first."  Clark has been a tackling machine this year and has led the nation throughout the year. The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder has size, speed, length and athleticism. He could rise throughout the runup to the 2022 NFL Draft thanks to his excellent production from 2021 and his skill set.) Some Teams Project Damone Clark to First Round of 2022 NFL Draft (11-19-21):  https://walterfootball.com/nflhotpress/article/490

2022 NFL Draft Stock - Week 8 (Up -Damone Clark, LB, LSU:  Clark has been a tackling machine in 2021 and leads college football in stops halfway through the year. He put an exclamation point on that with 19 tackles versus Ole Miss last Saturday. Thus far in 2021, Clark has 99 tackles, two forced fumbles, one interception and one pass defended. He had 63 tackles in 2020 and 49 in 2019 to go along with 3.5 sacks. The 6-foot-3, 245-pounder has excellent size to go along with quickness and athleticism. Clark could get tougher at taking on and shedding blocks for the NFL, but he has the upside to become a pro starter.) (10-26-21):   https://walterfootball.com/draft2022stock_08.php

Week 8 College Football Players of the Week: Kayvon Thibodeaux and Leo Chenal shine (LB Damone Clark, LSU:  It might be a long final month for the Tigers, but guys like Damone Clark are still giving it all they have. In a 31-17 loss to Ole Miss, Clark led all players with a career-high 19 tackles. He also produced 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack. The game didn’t go his way, but at least Clark can say he was one of the Defensive College Football Players of the Week.) College Football Team of the Week: Frank Harris accounts for 7 TDs in Week 6 (LB: Nakobe Dean, Georgia:  Much like most of Georgia’s starters, Nakobe Dean didn’t have to finish the game against Auburn. That’s how dominant this Georgia team has become. Dean recorded 5 total tackles as he patrolled sideline to sideline. His biggest impact came when he intercepted Auburn QB Bo Nix early in the game after Auburn was looking to potentially go up 2 scores.) Top inside linebackers in the 2022 NFL Draft include Edefuan Ulofoshio, Ventrell Miller (9.  Damone Clark, LSU:  Damone Clark didn’t live up to expectation last season by his own admission and that of the LSU staff. Despite that, there were flashes on film that indicate he can be one of the top inside linebackers in the 2022 NFL Draft. Clark owns impressive physical traits, including excellent sideline-to-sideline range. He moves exceptionally well for a man of his size.  That is another tick in the box for Clark. At 6’3″ and 245 pounds, he presents a bruising figure in the heart of the defense. If he can work on some technique issues to overcome blockers more efficiently, he can build on his 8 tackles for loss and 4.5 career sacks. With Jabril Cox departed to the NFL, the onus will be on Clark to lead the LSU linebacker group. Following the dismissal of Bo Pelini, a new position coach should fuel more standout performances.)
