2026 NFL Draft Prospect CB Davison Igbinosun

Davison Igbinosun:

Scouting Reports:

Articles:

Ranking the top 10 cornerbacks in the NFL Draft (9. Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State, 6-2, 189. Lanky four-year starter across Big Ten and SEC. Built to play press coverage. Sticks his long arms into catch point when a step behind. Susceptible to play-action fakes. Magnet for penalties (16 since 2024) and the NFL is more ticky-tack.) Lions draft: A CB prospect for every round in 2026 (Third round: Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State - A big, physical press-man corner who cleaned up his game as a senior, Igbinosun offers over 50 college starts in a pro-friendly defense for the Buckeyes. For a player likely to be drafted in the second half of Day 2, the 6-2 Igbinosun is a major boom/bust candidate.  Pros:  Size, length and strength are optimal for Detroit’s man-heavy coverage.  Experienced presser with strong hands and rerouting ability.  Impressive tackler and run defender, doesn’t stay blocked.  Has the long speed to carry vertical receivers.  Good understanding of when to attack forward in zone.  Might be best-in-class at blowing up screens and RB swing passes.  Cons:  Serially guilty of holding and illegal contact in man coverage.  Stiffer than expected and slow into his closing burst.  Oddly terrible at finding the ball in the air.  Loses track of his coverage mark when looking back for the ball.  Inconsistent in keeping his designed leverage responsibilities) (4-10-26):  https://www.detroitlionspodcast.com/jeff-risdon/2026/04/09/detroit-lions-2026-nfl-draft-cb-prospect-for-every-round/

2026 NFL Draft: 5 best cornerbacks in man coverage, including LSU's Mansoor Delane (Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State:  On the subject of matching up with players like Jeremiah Smith, Igbinosun has had the privilege of doing so in practice for the last two years, and he has clearly benefited from training with the receiving talent Ohio State constantly produces.  With excellent size (6-foot-2) and adequate speed (4.45 forty-yard dash), Igbinosun can erase larger receivers in single coverage and won’t be bullied by anyone at the catch point. This past year, he allowed just six receptions for 44 yards on 111 man-coverage snaps.  Thanks to five forced incompletions and an interception, Igbinosun’s 18.8 passer rating when targeted in man coverage was the lowest of any FBS cornerback to face 20 or more targets. The New Jersey native struggled with penalties throughout his time at Ohio State, but made great improvements in this area, lowering his flag count from 16 in 2024 to five this past season.) One CB Detroit Lions Could Target in Every Round of 2026 NFL Draft (Fifth round: Davis Igbinosun, Ohio State - Igbinosun brings Big Ten pedigree and competitive toughness. He’s a physical defender who excels in run support and isn’t afraid to challenge receivers at the catch point. He projects as a valuable depth piece with special teams ability early in his career.) (3-27-26):  https://www.si.com/nfl/lions/onsi/news/one-cb-detroit-lions-could-target-every-round-2026-nfl-draft

NFL draft: Ranking Ohio State first-round WRs since 2022 (Davison Igbinosun: Known for his aggressive, physical press-man coverage, Igbinosun started all 43 games he played for Ohio State after transferring from Ole Miss. He was named first-team All-Big Ten as a senior in 2025, recording 53 tackles, two interceptions and eight pass breakups. He finished his career with 27 passes defended before running a 4.45 40-yard dash and managing a 34-inch vertical jump at the NFL Combine.) Let's Debate: NFL Draft Prospects Who Could Struggle Early, Late-Round Steals (Which former college standout do you think might struggle initially at the NFL level, and why?  RJ Young: Davison Igbinosun, WR, Ohio State. To call Igbinosun "handsy" in coverage is to liken an EF5 tornado to a stiff summer breeze off the Atlantic Ocean. In 2024, he was the most penalized corner in coverage in the Power 4 with 16 pass interference or holding calls made against him. In 2025, he was much more fundamentally sound and, at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, a tremendous addition in run coverage for the Buckeye defense. However, at the NFL level, where a 15-yard pass interference penalty is a spot foul and where he's not such an asset in run defense, I expect Igbinosun will have an adjustment period where he will have to truly lean into technique. He will need to improve on getting his head around, drop his hips, and run with the receiver rather than reach for him.) (3-5-26):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/college-football/nfl-draft-late-round-steals

Former Ohio State teammates have high praise for Tyleik Williams (Igbinosun, who led Ohio State with six passes defended and is viewed as a potential Day 2 or Day 3 selection, emphasized Williams' impact on the defense.  "He's a problem in that middle, he stops the run," Igbinosun said. "If you have a guy like that in the middle of your defense, that just makes everybody's job so much easier.") (3-2-26):  https://www.detroitlions.com/news/former-ohio-state-teammates-have-high-praise-for-tyleik-williams

Stock up/down from Combine Day 2: 10 prospects on the move (Stock down - Davison Igbinosun: Igbinosun improved in coverage as a senior, helping the Buckeyes stifle offenses. He has the size teams want on the outside (measured 6-2 1/8 with 32 7/8-inch arms) but his 34-inch vertical and 1.58-second 10-yard split in the 40 won’t inspire confidence in his quickness. Igbinosun exhibited stilted movement, stiff hips and struggled to find/adjust to the ball when challenged.) (2-28-26):  https://www.nfl.com/news/2026-nfl-combine-stock-up-stock-down-day-2-10-prospects-on-the-move

10 Second-Round NFL Draft Combine Prospects Who Could Be Week 1 Starters (8. Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State:  Ohio State's Davison Igbinosun was the fastest-recorded cornerback at the Senior Bowl, according to Zebra Technology. That athleticism should translate to NFL Combine drills, helping Igbinosun confirm his status as a future second-round pick. The Buckeyes standout is competitive and occasionally overly physical in coverage, but he possesses the size and speed combination NFL defenses covet on the outside.) (2-26-26):  https://www.si.com/nfl/draft/onsi/news/10-second-round-nfl-draft-combine-prospects-who-could-be-week-1-starters

Ten players whose 2026 NFL Draft stock could rise at combine (Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State:  A three-year starter for the Buckeyes after transferring from Ole Miss, Igbinosun did not allow a touchdown pass in coverage last fall, but got handsy at times. Penalty-avoidance is an area he'll need to clean up at the next level and certainly a coachable tactic. There's a chance to impress during individual drills in Indianapolis for a player with great size at the position (6-2, 200) and ample elite reps at college football's highest level.) (2-25-26):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2026-nfl-combine-10-prospects-with-something-to-prove-nussmeier-allar/

We won’t tell your friends: Ohio State’s NFL Draft prospects are worth a peek (CB Davison Igbinosun:  I wrote an extensive summary earlier this week about Davison Igbinosun and his importance to the Ohio State defense over the last several years. Ryan Day credits Iggy with changing the culture of the Buckeyes’ defensive secondary, which had seen a bit of a drop-of prior to Igbinosun’s arrival from Ole Miss. Penalties have been an issue for him during his career, but he improved in that area in 2025 while maintaining his lockdown abilities in addition to premier trash talk and a tangible energy about him.) NFL Combine Primer: Highest-graded prospects, sleepers, rankings and schedule (Sleeper to Watch: Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State - A four-year starter in the Power Four, Igbinosun went from surrendering a 105.8 passer rating as a freshman to giving up a 43.4 passer rating as a senior. He earned a 96th-percentile PFF coverage grade in single coverage in 2025.) 2026 NFL Combine: Prospects to Watch at Every Position (Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State:  Zebra Technology had Ohio State's Davison Igbinosun as the fastest cornerback at this year's Senior Bowl. Igbinosun was otherwise up-and-down in Mobile. A strong athletic showing at the NFL Scouting Combine would improve his pre-draft stock.) Senior Bowl practices for 2026 NFL draft: Best QBs, prospects (Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun had a productive second day in which he recorded multiple pass breakups. His best portion of practice came during one-on-ones, and he remained disciplined in coverage on Wednesday. Igbinosun is known for his grabby nature, but he limited that tendency and showed his potential in man-to-man as well as zone. Considering his size (6-foot-2, 192 pounds) and movement skills, it would be a surprise if he's not selected inside of the top 75 picks.) 2026 Senior Bowl Practice Observations: Caleb Banks, T.J. Parker Take Field in Mobile (Davison Igbinosun, CB, American - Day 1 Update.  As was the case with his college career, Davison Igbinosun was a bit volatile on his first day at the Senior Bowl, but he nonetheless showed promise. On a quick out in 1-on-1s, Igbinosun was able to redirect, run with his man, and close out to dislodge the pass by the boundary. But later, Anderson got the best of him on a double-dip delayed out.  Keeping discipline and avoiding relying on extraneous physicality will be a sticking point for Igbinosun, especially against smaller WRs, but all of the traits that make him intriguing are present thus far.) Ohio State Buckeyes star defender rising quickly up NFL Draft boards as he destroys Senior Bowl competition (1-28-26):  https://atozsports.com/college-football/ohio-state-buckeyes-news/ohio-state-buckeyes-star-defender-nfl-draft-boards-destroys-senior-bowl-competition-davison-igbinosun/

Senior Bowl 2026 CB/SAF Primer (Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State:  Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun is a physical boundary corner with elite NFL size. He clicks and closes in coverage with intent. A high football IQ paired with disciplined eyes helped Igbinosun record four interceptions and 19 pass breakups across 2024-25.) Arvell Reese, Caleb Downs Lead 12 Ohio State NFL Draft Prospects to Watch vs. Miami (Davidson Igbinosun, CB - PFSN Cornerback Impact: 87.8, B+.  Eye test alone, David Igbinosun checks off plenty of boxes that scouts are going to love when watching the 6-foot-2 cornerbacks’ tape. While he did not face many major tests in the Big Ten this season, when Igbinosun was targeted, he displayed some solid coverage skills. His speed, fluid hips, and instinct for the football make the lengthy corner a potential early round selection.) 5 WR-CB Battles That Will Decide the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals (Malachi Toney vs. Davison Igbinosun:  Anyone defending Malachi Toney hasn’t exactly enjoyed their lives this year. Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson continues finding ways to get Toney involved, and the Ohio State Buckeyes are up next to try to defend the Hurricanes’ star.  While Davison Igbinosun won’t guard Toney the entire game, he’ll have his chances. Toney’s speed puts him in a position to stretch the defense, but Igbinosun has the talent to run with him.  How well the Buckeyes shut down Miami’s passing attack will determine if the Hurricanes can keep this game close.) (12-30-25):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/cfb/5-wr-cb-battles-decide-college-football-playoff-quarterfinals/

CFP Round 1 Draft-Eligible Players To Watch (Ohio State DB Davison Igbinosun:  Davison Igbinosun will be tested this weekend. Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava isn’t afraid to push the ball vertically, and Igbinosun’s ability to limit the likes of Bru McCoy, Dont’e Thornton, and Squirrel White will pave the way for success. The knock on Igbinosun is his knack for grabbing and tugging on the perimeter, accruing 13 penalties this fall alone. It’s a number that’s unacceptable at the position, regardless of level, and don’t be shocked when Tennessee dials up shot play after shot play downfield to test his patience and coverage ability in certain situations. It’s a big week for the true junior and former Ole Miss transfer.) (12-19-25):  https://thedraftnetwork.com/2024/12/19/cfp-2025-nfl-draft-players-to-watch

2026 NFL draft tiers for every College Football Playoff team (Round 2: Edge Kenyatta Jackson Jr., CB Davison Igbinosun, TE Max Klare*, OT Austin Siereveld*.  Day 2 will also have a heavy Ohio State presence, depending on some underclassman decisions. Jackson had a standout performance against Indiana in the close Big Ten championship game loss and is a top-50-type player. The same goes for Siereveld, who hasn't allowed a sack in 13 starts this season. Klare -- who will be in the running for TE2 in the class -- and Igbinosun are seen as well-coached, highly developed prospects who can make a mark quickly in the pros. Igbinosun is especially praised for his alignment versatility and savvy.) PFSN All-Big Ten Football Team Headlined by Fernando Mendoza, Jeremiah Smith (CB: Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State Buckeyes - Davison Igbinosun elevated his game beyond last season’s penalty difficulties, securing his first team spot with elite level cornerback play.) Ranking the best prospects in the Big Ten Championship Game (8. Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State:  The better half of a divisive cornerback duo, Igbinosun is another top-100 talent on an elite Buckeyes defense. There's some projection left in his game, but with a 6'2" frame and sub-4.50 speed, some team is bound to fall in love on Day 2.  Igbinosun has three interceptions and 17 passes defended over the last two seasons. He has improved year-over-year, including three seasons as a major contributor in Columbus and a 500-snap season at Mississippi. Indiana has two Sunday players on the perimeter, setting the stage for another prove-it game.) 2026 NFL Draft Rankings: Cornerbacks (18. Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State Buckeyes - Big board rank: 163.  Igbinosun is a talented player with an NFL-level combination of height, length, weight and long speed. He has played a lot of reps in press coverage, which is the style he best projects to in a man-heavy system. However, his game lacked anticipation in 2024. He was top 10 in the FBS in penalties called against him in 2024, stemming from not anticipating receivers' releases and route breaks well enough, as well as grabbing them to limit separation. He is also susceptible to double moves, especially out-and-ups. He has the tools to be a top-100 pick, but he has to clean up his game first.) 5 NFL Draft prospects to watch on rivalry Saturday (Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State:  Igbinosun has quietly had a very strong year, significantly cutting back on his clutching and grabbing in routes. He's still physical, however, something that he can demonstrate in the run game against a Michigan team that loves to run off-tackle. Another strong game for the legit 6-foot-2, 200-pound boundary corner could have Igbinosun continuing to rise. He was the No. 50 player in the midseason big board and will be higher in the next update.) 2026 NFL Draft: Ranking the 10 Best Prospects in Ohio State vs. Michigan (7. Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State, CB, 6-2, 195, SR, #1:  Whereas the aforementioned Curry is a favorite among scouts, the long-levered Igbinosun might be Ohio State’s most polarizing prospect. On the one hand, his allowed catch rate is one of the nation’s best. According to PFF, he’s forced 11 incompletions on the season and has allowed only 15 receptions, including zero touchdowns. At the same time, he’s pretty grabby with the ball in flight. And while he’s only been flagged three times in 2025, NFL referees might not be as willing to look past his eagerness to play the ball.  A former freshman All-American at Ole Miss who has since earned honorable mention All-Big Ten accolades each of the past two years at Ohio State, Igbinosun has the traits and starting experience to warrant a top-50 selection. But he lacks the ball-hawking skills teams covet in a first-round pick, turning just two of his 27 career passes defensed into interceptions so far.) Five Prospects Who Improved Their 2026 NFL Draft Stock in Week 7 (Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State:  There aren’t many cornerbacks in the FBS playing better than Igbinosun, who broke up four passes against Illinois and allowed only one catch for six yards on seven targets, according to Pro Football Focus. Penalties were the knock on Igbinosun exiting 2024—he committed 16 of them—but he’s found the physicality balance this year, as he’s been penalized only twice. Igbinosun is a quality cover corner with the confidence, instincts and ball skills to start at the next level. He’s in line to be a Day 2 pick.) Ohio State cornerback sends message after big day against Illinois (One member of the secondary really stood out throughout the game, locking down Illinois’s receivers all game long. Illinois quarterback and Heisman hopeful Luke Altmyer attempted 44 passes and finished with just 248 yards in the air. Cornerback Davison Igbinosun may have been the Buckeyes best defender all day lon in that effort.  According to Pro Football Focus, Igbinosun was targeted seven times in the win. On those seven attempts, he allowed just one catch for six yards. Meanwhile he broke up two passes, and forced incompletions on the other four.) 2026 NFL Draft Summer Scouting: Cornerback Overview (Man Boundary Cornerbacks - Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State.  Strengths:  Good linear athlete with NFL-level first-step explosiveness.  Built like an NFL corner.  Good amount of experience in press in just three seasons.  Weaknesses:  Top 10 in most penalties for the CB position in 2024 (DPI and holding).  Seems to panic or not trust he can stick with WRs if he doesn't get hands on them/grab.  Struggles to get off blocks.  Feet are slow at the snap in press, which put him behind on the play.  Scouting Summary:  Igbinosun is a talented player with an NFL-level combination of height, length, weight and long speed. He has played a lot of reps in press coverage, which is the style he best projects to in a man-heavy system. However, his game lacked anticipation in 2024. Week 1 College Football Team of the Week: Haynes King Stuns Deion Sanders' Colorado, Davison Igbinosun Stymies Arch Manning (Cornerback of the Week: Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State.  It’s not often you see a corner lead the team in tackles, but Davison Igbinosun did just that against the Longhorns (10). For the majority of the contest, he used his prototypical size and length to suffocate WRs on the outside. Did he allow some underneath receptions? Of course, but he rarely allowed yards after the catch and ever forced an incompletion to boot.) (8-30-25):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/cfb/college-football-team-of-the-week-1-2025/

Top 25 Returning College Football Cornerback Rankings Headlined By Michael Coats Jr. and Jontez Williams (6. Davison Igbinosun, Ohio State - 2025 PFSN College SAF+ Grade: 87.1.  Davison Igbinosun’s performance helped Ohio State get over the hump to win the CFP National Championship last season. He transferred from Ole Miss after the 2022 season and has been the top corner for the Buckeyes since he arrived. I think that his combination of sheer talent and experience will help him continue to the next level.) (8-20-25):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/cfb/college-football-cornerback-rankings-2025/

Ohio State Buckeyes' Top Defenders Earn High Recognition Ahead of Season (In addition to Downs, Ohio State's secondary unit will be led by Igbinosun, who offers plenty of experience to a defense that lost multiple starters last season. In his second season with the Buckeyes, Igbinosun finished the year with seven pass breakups and two interceptions. And while senior defender will become the team's No. 1 cornerback this season, Igbinosun has shown signs of improvement every season with the Buckeyes.)
