NFL Week 13 big questions and takeaways: Packers, Cowboys, Lions winners on Thanksgiving (Detroit 23, Chicago 20 - Lions:  Will the Lions target tight end Sam LaPorta more going forward? It depends on the matchup and situation. With so many offensive weapons in Detroit, it's almost pick your poison. LaPorta didn't reach his second receiving touchdown this season until Week 8 versus the Tennessee Titans. However, he connected with Goff for two touchdowns versus the Bears. LaPorta has 15 receiving touchdowns over the past two seasons. That's the most by any tight end over that span, per ESPN Research.  Most surprising performance: The Lions' running game. Thursday was first time this season Detroit failed to score a rushing touchdown. The Lions had scored one in 25 straight games -- including the playoffs -- which is the longest streak in NFL history. Running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery combined for 175 rushing yards against Chicago.  Early prediction for next week: Lions kicker Jake Bates won't miss a field goal. Against the Bears, Bates missed 45-yarder in the fourth quarter. NFL Thanksgiving winners and losers: Dolphins' cold-weather blues continue, Lions' defensive front dominates (Winner: Lions defensive front - The Lions as a whole did not have the most impressive performance in the win over the Bears, but this defensive front was dominant. Not only did Detroit hold D'Andre Swift to 39 yards on 11 carries, but according to Next Gen Stats, Za'Darius Smith (8), Al-Quadin Muhammad (7) and DJ Reader (7) all set or tied season highs in pressures. This was just the second game this season a team has had three players with seven or more pressures. NFL overreactions: Williams to blame over Eberflus? (Lions are fortunate to still have No. 1 seed in NFC - Overreaction or reality: Reality.  The Lions still have the No. 1 seed in the NFC, controlling their own destiny in the conference after Thursday's win over the Bears. No matter what the Eagles do on Sunday, the Lions will have the top seed in the conference by a full game (and the conference-record tiebreaker since they have one conference loss to the Eagles' two). Things could have gotten really murky if the Lions would have lost to the Bears, and there was a good chance of that happening. The Bears were at the Lions' 13-yard line with 40 seconds left and appeared ready to score the winning touchdown, not kick a tying field goal. Despite Teven Jenkins getting an illegal use of hands penalty to back the Bears up to the Lions' 35-yard line, they still had enough time to get the yards needed for an easier field attempt from Cairo Santos. Then the clock management chaos ensued, leaving the Lions off the hook for what looked to be a late-game collapse. The Lions should have put this game away in the first half, going 1-for-3 in the red zone and kicking two field goals. Detroit only led 16-0 at halftime despite scoring on all four possessions and outgaining Chicago 279-53. The Lions were still holding on to the lead late, but a missed 45-yard field goal by Jake Bates in the fourth quarter also gave the Bears life. Detroit finished 2 of 5 in the red zone in a game the Lions dominated.  At the end of the day, a win is a win. The Lions are 11-1, but they dodged a bullet and a major collapse in the process.
