Week 9 Predictions

Lions vs. Packers prediction, odds: Detroit mojo will continue in an instant classic (Lions vs. Packers prediction for Week 9 game - The Lions are 4-2 against the Packers under coach Dan Campbell, with consecutive wins at Lambeau Field. Both teams are coming into the game hot with the NFL's second and third-longest winning streaks. The Lions have been mashing teams, while three of the Packers' four wins came by a one-score margin. They have consecutive wins over the Texans and Jaguars coming on a field goal from Brandon McManus on the final play.  The Lions' offense wasn't perfect Sunday and will have a test against a Packers defense that ranks 11th in scoring and leads the NFL with 19 takeaways. The Lions defense moved up to eigth in scoring, holding teams to 19.1 points per game, but will be facing the best offense yet this year if Love is healthy. He has established himself as a quality starter in the league and thrives on the deep shots Detroit surrendered to Tennessee. PFN Rolfe (Detroit Lions (-4) at Green Bay Packers - After an unconvincing start to the season, the Detroit Lions are marching on with an incredible level of performance. Sure, the schedule ranks among the 10 easiest in the NFL, but they are fourth on offense, fifth on defense, and seventh on special teams. They can blow teams away in an instant and can grind out wins when they need to. That is a sign of a potential champion.  The Green Bay Packers are not having it easy this year, with Jordan Love hurt again. There is every chance he either misses this game or plays it at far less than 100%.  The Packers are proving to be a middle-of-the-pack team statistically, with an 11th-ranked offense and 18th-ranked defense. Green Bay’s only quality win this year came over the Texans, a last-second win at home.  The Packers’ 6-2 record feels flimsy, with losses to the Eagles and Minnesota Vikings highlighting their struggles to get results when facing top-12 teams. CBS Breech (Detroit (6-1) at Green Bay (6-2) - The Detroit Lions are the hottest team in the NFL right now, but if there's one thing that might be able to cool them off, it's playing OUTSIDE. This game is at Lambeau Field, which I'm only bringing up because this week's game will mark the FIRST TIME all season that the Lions will be playing outdoors. It is Week 9, this game is taking place in NOVEMBER, and the Lions still have not played a game outdoors.  Before the season started, I actually made Jared Goff my MVP pick and a big reason for that is because Detroit plays 13 of its 16 games indoors. 2 Pick the Lions to win.  There's rain in the forecast for Sunday, which could be an issue for the Lions, because I'm not even sure they remember what rain looks like. . Although playing outdoors might slow down the Lions a little bit, they're playing so well right now that I'm not sure it's going to matter. The Lions are coming off a game where they scored 52 points, they're averaging 38.4 points over their past five games and they have MORE TOUCHDOWNS (25) than incomplete passes (20) since Week 3. That stat is so wild that I can't even comprehend it. That's like a baseball player having more home runs than strikeouts.  If the Lions turn this game into a shootout, I'm not sure the Packers can keep up and that's mostly because of the Jordan Love situation. The Packers quarterback suffered a groin injury in Week 8 and if he plays this week, he's going to be very banged up. On the other hand, if he's out, then Malik Willis will get the start. Willis has looked good in two starts this season, but he won't be catching anyone by surprise this time around. SN Iyer (Game of the Week: Lions (-3.5, 47.5 o/u) at Packers - The Packers are looking at Malik Willis starting at QB again over a banged-up Jordan Love (groin). That will limit their needed offensive firepower to overcome another blowup game for the Lions' offense. SN Bende (Detroit Lions (-4.5) at Green Bay Packers - Will Love (groin) play? That would take some shine off this marquee NFC North battle even if Malik Willis has played well in Love's place. The Packers lead the NFL in takeaways (19), and the Lions (15) are tied for second. Green Bay needs to force turnovers on Jared Goff, who hasn't thrown an interception in his past four games. CBS Prisco (Detroit Lions (-3.5) at Green Bay Packers - This is an enormous game in the division, but the Packers have big concerns with Jordan Love and his injured groin. He will be a long shot to play, which means it's likely another start for Malik Willis, who is 2-0 this year as a starter. That will mean more of a reliance on the run game for the Packers. The Lions are dynamic on offense, which is why controlling the clock is key against them.
