Lions Week 10 Predictions

Lions vs. Texans prediction, odds: Detroit favored in road SNF matchup (Lions vs. Texans prediction for Week 10 game - Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud hands the ball to Houston Texans running back Joe Mixon against the New York Jets during the first half at MetLife Stadium, Oct. 31, 2024.
The Lions showed they are up for playing in any element after grinding through the muddy slugfest against Green Bay, but return to the friendly confines of a dome at NRG Stadium this week. Detroit's offense should get back to its explosive ways and be able to push the ball downfield after keeping everything tight in the rain. Speedy receiver Jameson Williams returns from his two-game suspension, giving the Lions their downfield option that was missing.  On the other side of the ball, Stroud may be the best quarterback the Lions face this year, but his options are severely limited. The Lions' injured defensive line is still strong where the Texans are weak, on the interior, and should be able to make an impact. The pick: Lions 31, Texans 21.):  https://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2024/11/04/lions-texans-prediction-betting-odds-tv-channel-how-to-watch/76044040007/

PFN Rolfe (Detroit Lions (-4.5) at Houston Texans - The Houston Texans haven’t been as good as their 6-3 record would indicate, ranking 23rd on offense and 10th on defense this year. The Texans have also played just the 19th-toughest schedule to date, so they haven’t been that heavily tested.  In contrast, the Detroit Lions are fourth offensively and seventh defensively and are the clearly superior team of these two — 4.5 points doesn’t adequately reflect that, even with the Texans at home.  This is an easy play to take the Lions laying the points, but the total is a no-play as it is right in the area where we would project this game to finish.  Prediction: Lions 27, Texans 20):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/early-nfl-picks-predictions-week-10-2024/

CBS Breech (Detroit (7-1) at Houston (6-3) - First, let me start things off here by thanking the Lions. As someone who picked them to go the Super Bowl this year, I've never felt smarter than I do now. Last year, I picked the Cowboys to get to the Super Bowl out of the NFC and I still cry myself to sleep at least twice a week over that pick. Through nine weeks, the Lions clearly look like the best team in the NFC and a big part of that is because Jared Goff is on one of the most insane runs that any quarterback has ever gone on in NFL history. Over Detroit's past six games, the Lions have gone 6-0 and that's mainly because Goff has done this: He's completed 82.8% of his passes, he's thrown 13 touchdown passes compared to just one interception and he has a passer rating 140.1 passer. His passer rating and completion percentage are both an NFL record for a six-game span. Goff is officially doing things that Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes and Peyton Manning never did. And remember, he's doing this with the Lions. Winning six straight games is almost unheard of in Detroit. Before this year, the Lions hadn't won six games in a row in the same season since 1995.  I thought that playing outdoors might slow him down in Week 9, but instead, Goff was even better, and now, he gets to go back indoors to face the Texans.  Goff will actually be getting a stiff test this week and that's because the Texans have one of the pass defenses in the NFL. Houston is surrendering just 167.4 yards per game through the air, which is the third-best number in the league. Of course, my guess is that the Lions are well aware of how good the Texans are at stopping the pass, so I fully expect them to only run the ball this week. As good as Goff has been this year, the Lions are arguably better on the ground. With David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs running the show, the Lions have averaged 152.6 rushing yards per game, which makes them one of just six teams in the NFL that's averaged more than 150 yards per game this year.  I think the Lions are going to plow through the Texans defense. Nico Collins is eligible to come off injured reserve this week and if that happens, I could see Houston keeping this close, but if not, then I think the Lions win by double digits.  Actually, now that they've traded for Za'Darius Smith, I think they win by double digits even if Collins does play. The pick: Lions 41-24 over Texans):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-10-picks-eagles-destroy-cowboys-steelers-stun-commanders-jets-pull-off-upset-against-cardinals/

SN Iyer (Lions (-3, 49 o/u) at Texans - The Lions can contain the best asset in the Texans' offense, which is the running game with Joe Mixon. C.J. Stroud will face some heat again, and he needs wide receiver Nico Collins back badly to get the passing game on track. Houston has played a lot of close games and has the talent to hang in there with Sunday night home emotions at play, but Detroit is becoming more difficult to beat each week. The running backs and Amon-Ra St. Brown tilt the game to the visitors.  Pick: Lions win 27-20 and cover the spread.):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-picks-predictions-against-spread-week-10-steelers-49ers/7b5b2428d653eb3764602d9a

SN Bender (Detroit Lions (-3.5) at Houston Texans - The Lions have committed two turnovers through a six-game win streak, and they have multiple ways to win with the combination of Jared Goff, who has a league-best 74.9-percent completion percentage, and the running game behind David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. The defense has given up 400-plus yards the past two weeks, which means it could be a shootout if C.J. Stroud avoids mistakes and Joe Mixon continues his streak of 100-yard games, which is at four. The Texans are 4-0 S/U at home this season, but this Lions' team is different. Pick: Lions 31, Texans 20):  https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-picks-predictions-week-10-eagles-cowboys-lions-texans/ffb7d099ec454d42d9cd859c

CBS Sullivan (Lions at Texans - Sunday, 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC, fubo).  As we've noted here before, there's really not a number that can scare us away from backing Detroit. Sure, laying the field goal with the hook on the road isn't an ideal spot, but the Lions have shown that they can clear lofty hurdles and are 7-1 ATS on the season. That includes a 4-0 ATS mark on the road, and three of those ATS wins came as a road favorite. Detroit hasn't faltered under the primetime lights, either. Under Dan Campbell, the Lions are 8-0 ATS in primetime games, while the Texans are 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight games on "Sunday Night Football." Meanwhile, the Texans are allowing the most receiving touchdowns to wide receivers this season, so Amon-Ra St. Brown's anytime touchdown prop on DraftKings could also be worth a sprinkle.  Projected score: Lions 30, Texans 24):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-10-odds-picks-best-bets-steelers-upset-commanders-saints-cover-after-coaching-change/

Detroit Lions vs. Houston Texans | 2024 Week 10 Game Preview (10 pick the Lions to win by scores of 34-24, 28-21, 30-22, 26-22, 33-24, 32-17, 28-17, 31-20, 26-24, 27-20.):  https://www.nfl.com/videos/lions-vs-texans-preview-week-10

AP Pro (Detroit (7-1) at Houston (6-3) - Line: Lions minus 3 1/2.  Jared Goff is playing at an MVP level and the high-powered Lions have won six in a row. They added three-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Za’Darius Smith to bolster the defense and are primed to push for the NFC’s No. 1 seed. The Texans need to protect C.J. Stroud better or they won’t go anywhere in January. Relying on Joe Mixon running the ball will help.  LIONS: 24-22):  https://apnews.com/article/pro-picks-nfl-week-10-54da39be8cebfeb99d20d5ef30f13aa6

CBS Dajani (Detroit Lions (-3.5) at Houston Texans - I'll play on the hook, but don't tell Mr. Krabs. It was impressive to see the Lions go to Lambeau Field in their first outdoors game of the year and defeat the Green Bay Packers in the wind and rain, dominating from beginning to end. Are they the best team in the NFL right now? Nico Collins does have a chance to return to the lineup this week, but man, the Texans looked terrible vs. the Jets. The offensive line struggled, the secondary struggled, Stroud struggled.  This game is incredibly important in my opinion. It could be where the "general public" starts questioning the Texans pretty heavily, while the Lions hype takes off to new heights. I'll ride with the 7-1 ATS team compared to the 3-6 ATS team.  The pick: Lions -3.5.  Projected score: Lions 35-27):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-week-10-picks-odds-best-bets-lamar-jackson-runs-over-bengals-christian-mccaffrey-has-triumphant-return/

CBS DeArdo (Prediction
The Texans are certainly capable of pulling off the upset, especially if Collins returns and Mixon can get off to a fast start. But Houston's red zone defense is a pretty big liability, one that I think the Lions will take full advantage of. The Texans' issues protecting Stroud may also loom large in Sunday night's outcome. While the Texans could strengthen their wide receiver room with the return of Collins, there is still plenty to be learned about the club's offensive line. CBS Prisco (Detroit Lions (-3.5) at Houston Texans - This is a second straight road game for the Lions against a team that is rested having played on Thursday. Even so, I look for the Texans to bounce back and upset the Lions.  Pick: Texans 28, Lions 27):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/pete-priscos-week-10-nfl-picks-most-of-the-favorites-take-care-of-business-but-the-lions-get-caught-on-snf/
