PFF Grades and Data: Everything you need to know for every NFL Week 12 game (Detroit Lions @ Indianapolis Colts - Jared Goff has taken 57% of his snaps from under center this season, the highest rate in the league, and his 1,318 passing yards are also the most among all quarterbacks in such situations. Goff’s 132.7 passer rating from under center ranks third at the position, and he will face a Colts defense that has allowed an 80% completion rate and a 112.9 passer rating to quarterbacks under center this season.  Josh Downs continues to emerge as a reliable receiving threat, particularly from the slot. His 471 receiving yards from the slot rank third most in the NFL, while his 24 first-down conversions are tied for the second most among all players.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-pff-grades-and-data-key-insights-for-every-nfl-week-12-game

NFL Week 12 Preview: Schedule, storylines and matchups to watch (Detroit Lions (-7.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts  - Storyline of the game: Lions putting up video game numbers.  Not only are the Lions standing atop the NFL — tied for the league’s best record — but they are performing at an absolutely insane level, evidenced by their stomping of the Jags last Sunday — a game which they won by over 40 points. Detroit racked up 645 yards of offense behind an exceptional day from Jared Goff, who earned a 93.5 overall offensive grade — his highest since Week 5 of last season.   The Colts made the switch back to Anthony Richardson last week, and it resulted in the spark they needed to capture their first win in four games. This iteration of Richardson looked far more poised than the previous version, resulting in the highest single-game grade (80.1) of the quarterback's young career.  Matchups to watch: Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown vs. Colts CB Kenny Moore II - It's not often that we get to see as high-profile a matchup in the receiving game as this one. Both Moore and St. Brown hold top-four overall grades at their respective positions and are set to cross paths all over the field this week.  The Lions’ All-Pro receiver is coming off his best game as a pro, amassing career-highs in receiving yardage (161) and PFF receiving grade (92.8). The Sun God is adept in all alignments and route concepts, making him one of the most difficult covers in the NFL, no matter what George Pickens says.  Moore will need to prove he's up to the challenge as a versatile corner that will undoubtedly meet St. Brown both in the slot and out wide. The veteran corner maintains the fourth-highest coverage grade (80.6) at his position this season, highlighted with just 0.89 yards allowed per coverage snap.  Additional news:   Lions LB Alex Anzalone (forearm) expected to miss six to eight weeks after fracturing his arm; possible to return for postseason.):  https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-week-12-preview-schedule-storylines-and-matchups-to-watch

MVP front-runner? Top rookie Jayden Daniels or Bo Nix? Chiefs better off for losing? (Which of the NFL's 9-win teams has the most upside down the stretch: the Lions, Chiefs or Bills?  I think it's the Lions, just by their sheer dominance this season. They've outscored opponents by 159 points and the next-closest is the Bills at plus-106. They're the highest-scoring team by a full field goal a game, rank in the top five in scoring defense and are third in turnover margin. Their remaining schedule is plenty challenging — facing the Bills, Packers and Vikings still — but if the NFC playoffs go through Detroit, the Lions will be a heavy favorite, and the most well-rounded challenger to the Chiefs and stopping their three-peat. — Greg Auman.  I feel like the Bills have the most upside because they aren't quite at the top. The Lions are dominating every team they play — and playing with their food in the process. They're the team already at the top. They face a tough schedule down the stretch, but they're built for it. The Bills, on the other hand, are closing the lead the Chiefs have on the AFC. Buffalo could conceivably get the first seed if Kansas City takes its foot off the gas. The Bills own the tiebreaker thanks to their win over the Chiefs on Sunday. Buffalo sits at 9-2 on the season and Kansas City is 9-1. That's a very closable margin. — Carmen Vitali):  https://www.foxsports.com/stories/nfl/nfl-roundtable-mvp-lamar-jackson-josh-allen-top-rookie-jayden-daniels-bo-nix

Ranking the 5 top NFL coach of the year candidates in 2024, including Mike Tomlin (3. Dan Campbell, Detroit Lions:  The Lions have the NFL’s best point differential by a country mile. They have the No. 1 scoring offense and a top-five scoring defense. They blow out all inferior competition without mercy and can win games against playoff contenders even when they have a gazillion turnovers.  Detroit is the NFL’s first truly dominant team in a little while, and it’s all because it takes after Campbell, an incredible leader who has built one of pro football’s healthiest winning cultures. I don’t think Campbell has a realistic chance at this honor, but if the Lions finish with something like 15 wins and the NFC’s No. 1 seed, don’t be surprised if he gets it anyway.):  https://ftw.usatoday.com/2024/11/nfl-coach-of-year-rankings-mike-tomlin-jim-harbaugh

QB Rankings:

2024 NFL QB Rankings: Insights Behind Bo Nix’s Improvements and Tua Tagovailoa’s Impressive Play (3. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions - Grade: A-.  You probably would not have guessed before the season that Jared Goff would be the QB with the two best individual game grades of the entire season. However, that is the case coming out of Week 11, with his performance against Jacksonville narrowly beating his Week 4 performance against Seattle, which was the previous best.  Goff’s performances have been a little more varied than Jackson’s or Tua’s, which is why, despite the higher heights of individual games, he sits below them overall for the season. He leads the league in nYPA and yards after the catch per completion (YAC/Cp) while ranking second throwing from a clean pocket and EPA per dropback.):  https://www.profootballnetwork.com/nfl-qb-rankings-2024/

NFL Week 12 QB Power Rankings: Herbert bolts into top 5 (4. Jared Goff Detroit Lions QB:  It speaks volumes that he can throw five picks in a single game and still, week in and week out, look even sharper than he did during his 2023 revival. He's averaging 9.2 yards (!) per throw. (+1)):  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/2024-nfl-week-12-qb-power-rankings-chargers-justin-herbert-bolts-into-top-five-jets-aaron-rodgers-slides/

NFL QB Index, Week 12: Patrick Mahomes slips out of top four after Bills hand Chiefs first loss (6. Jared Goff - 2024 stats: 10 games | 73.0 pct | 2,492 pass yds | 9.2 ypa | 20 pass TD | 9 INT | 39 rush yds | 0 rush TD | 4 fumbles.  It looked like Goff and the Lions were playing Madden NFL 25 on rookie difficulty against the Jaguars. Whatever offensive coordinator Ben Johnson dialed up, it worked. Goff had all day to throw and took full advantage, carving up Jacksonville's defense on his way to seven straight touchdown drives. No, that is not a typo. At one point, Johnson reached back into his bag to pull out the hook and ladder for a second time this season. This might have been the easiest outing for Goff in the 2024 season, and that's with their runaway win over Tennessee included in consideration. This Lions offense is scary when everything goes right, and Goff is at home as the conductor.):  https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-qb-index-week-12-2024-nfl-season
