Week 12 Predictions

PFN Rolfe (Detroit Lions (-8) at Indianapolis Colts - The Detroit Lions got back on the right track in Week 11 by dismantling the woeful Jacksonville Jaguars. The Indianapolis Colts should provide a sterner test, but much depends on which version of Anthony Richardson shows up in Week 12.  The Lions should be the better team in all three phases of the game, and this should not be a close matchup. However, Richardson is the type of enigmatic quarterback who could keep it interesting.  Detroit has won five of its last seven games by 10 points or more and could easily make that six of eight against a Colts team that ranks outside the top 20 both offensively and defensively. This has the feel of a high-scoring back-and-forth or a blowout in favor of the Lions. SN Bender (Detroit Lions (-7.5) at Indianapolis Colts:  The Lions have defeated three AFC South teams by a combined total of 130-49, and Detroit is 2-1 ATS when favored by more than seven points. Anthony Richardson, who totaled 304 yards and three TDs against the Jets, is a different challenge for Detroit, and the Colts are 5-2 ATS as an underdog. Still, Detroit has allowed just 48.5 rushing yards per game the past two weeks. Sunday 1 p.m. ET, CBS. Don't count out Detroit from scoring more than 50 points for a record-tying third time at some point this season. The Colts' defense is bad enough vs. the strengths of the Lions (rushing attack, downfield passing shots) to think there's a chance for the Lions to get there in Indy. CBS Prisco (Detroit Lions (-7.5) at Indianapolis Colts:  The Colts looked good winning on the road at the Jets last week, but this is a major step up in competition. The Lions offense is clicking again and should have success against the Colts defense. The question is whether Anthony Richardson can do it two weeks in a row. CBS Sullivan (Lions at Colts - We haven't been afraid of laying big numbers this season, especially when it comes to the Lions, so why stop now? Sure, Anthony Richardson looked much better in his return as a starter last week, but how much of that was due to playing a New York Jets team that has already quit on the season? I expect to see more of the version of Richardson from earlier this season, where he barely was able to complete half of his passes this week, especially when he's forced into a pass-first game script against a Lions team that loves to pour it on against inferior opponents.
